The RP World of Facebook

You know Facebook is more than just an ordinary social and networking site. Role Playing is really huge. Now,I've never been one for that whole Dungeons and Dragons aside from the Saturday morning cartoon, but you can find groups of people starting groups based on their favorite movies, books, and even just made up characters. I belong to a few of the book related groups myself and it's really neat to see a lot of them giving a glimpse into furthering stories where the books leave off. You can meet all sorts of really cool people and finally the freaks and geeks have found their place! I say that with much love because I pride myself on being a book freak. However, with anything there is always a negative element. People can get overly absorbed in these groups and feelings can be hurt if not totally torn assunder. Narcisism is pretty much common place because people can lose themselves or feed into their darker sides. They can hurt people whereas outside of the net, they are basically good on the outside. Then you have people that form cliques and since online, there is no way to see a person's motives or persona other than what they type. All in all though, these groups for the most part are really fun and they put a lot of time and effort into being the characters they portray. So if you can get past the negative element-I recommend trying these groups out. Im not saying to become a role player, but just being a fan of a character's page or group is pretty fun! For me, I only interact w/book based characters. I'm big with the Sherrilyn Kenyon, J R Ward, Gena Showalter, and Kressley Cole book groups. If these appeal to you, then I suggest you try out: BDB Eternity, DH NOLA, DH UNLEASHED, DHUK(for my UK friends), Immortals After Dark, Lords of the Underworld(LOTU), DH Revolt, DH Third Realm, and those are just a few! There are also the Christine Feehan groups. So get out of your face book comfort zone and check out the world of RP groups.

The 80s

I'm going to pause with my usual takes on books and movies and pay hommage to the 80s. VH1 eat your heart out!

We had just moved back from Florida, back to Indiana, back to Penbrook dr. when I discovered MTV. It was night time, and I was wearing a pair of Strawberry Shortcake Pjs. My mother was spending the night and the t.v. was on. We had one of those old televisions that you had to turn the channels that made a hum-click noise as you flipped through them. Mostly I remember flipping past the news and stuff until I stopped on a channel that had what we now call a video on it. I remember being spellbound because I wasn't really exposed to alot of rock music outside of what my mom played on the radio or what was on my step-dad's 8track in his green Chevy Nova. The song was Video Killed the Radio Star and from that moment, I was a bonafide fan!

The 80s, we had all the great toys, Strawberry Shortcake, Barbie, the Rubix cube, Teddy Ruxpin(which kind of creeped me out), and the decade of the board games. There was also the fashions of shoulder pads, hyper colors, Madonna and Cyndi Lauper-the fashion divas, and the men of the 80s. I have to say who ever made it a fashion statement for men to sport the combo of a perm mullet with a porno'stace should be shot! Sears was popular for their Lauren Ashley collections for girls and women everywhere, which can still be worn by women who belong to cults and the women of most LDS plural marriage compounds. Then to save all us normal people, we had bands like Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison, and others of the Hair Band persuason that introduced us to ripped jeans*which I was forbidden to wear*, Aquanet, a tease comb, and the wonderful world of t-shirts. Just about every resturant was still providing the ambiance of Harvest Gold, Burt Orange, and Brown motifs that now remind you of a Truck stop. No one cared about their arteries or cholestrol in the 80s or wearing sunblock. Milk was still bought in cartons and Coke Cola came in glass bottles. Shows like Little House on the Prairie, Air Wolf, A-Team, and Dallas were the shows people watched. Friday nights were split between the latest horror movie block and MTV's Video countdowns. There were no reality shows, unless you watched PTL, the Jim Bakker show or you caught the Jerry Lewis Telethon. We all wanted to be on the Bozo show and win the Schwinn Bike or on Double Dare. HBO was the "naughty network" but gets props because they had Fraggle Rock and Brain Games. I used to spend weekends at my mom's just to be able to watch the channel that I was forbidden to watch at home. Every morning we all watched Happy's Place, where they showed Thunder Cats and Jem and the Holograms. In the after noon we caught Levar Burton for Reading Rainbow. Benji was the new Lassie, and we all wanted to be Savannah Smiles. Women's hair was either big and feathered or they were sporting the "power hair cut" to go with their power suits. A short cut that was cut at odd angles.Something no one in their right mind would wear today, but then again grown men and women are still sporting the mullet, because if they weren't, Jeff Foxworthy would be out of a job!

I remember up until the Challenger Explosion, schools made shuttle launches a big deal, where all of us would gather in the gym to watch them go up into space. I think through the biggest part of my elementary school years, my teachers had an obsession with the animated versions of The Hobbit,Lord of the Rings, and Charlotte's Web. Brooke Shields,Punky Brewster, Jo Kolnecheck, and Tootie were the girls we all wanted to be. We all fell hard for Patrick Swayzee, Chad Lowe, Ralph Macchio, Keefer Southerland, Keanu Reeves, Billy Wirth, and Matt Dillon. I saw the move Little Darlings and Tex and was forever hooked on Matt Dillon!

I could go on and on, but all in all the 80s were pretty good to me and most of the 90s. I feel like one of those old couples that goes on about the '50s and '60s. Don't worry I won't, but I get now why people like that talk about their generations-because I find myself going back now and again and I want to just hang out there one last time, but that's an impossibility so I snap myself to the present. So that's my 80s moment y'all and I'll be back with more great books and movies to talk to you about!

Come check out The Supernatural Realm of Nikki Noffsinger: Dark Carnival Short Story Snippet

Chad laughed and then scooped up another bite. By the time dinner was over, he was stuffed! He was hoping that he didn't pop any buttons off his shirt. Oh he would for sure be in the gym after this! They retired back to the living room when she got up to get them some coffee and clear the table. He had offered to help her but she had held up a hand and directed him back to the living room. Suddenly, he noticed he felt a little fuzzy; almost sleepy! Oh that was all he needed, to fall asleep at her house after all her hospitality and her being his first date in years. He could hear her humming and could hear some clinking noises in the kitchen. How a girl like her wasn't already attatched to someone, was beyond him but she was a rare treasure he had been lucky enough to find! In his mind he was already contemplating a Thank You letter to the website, where they had first met! His eye lids drooped for a moment, and he struggled to keep them open. He was going to have to get vertical here or he was going to fall asleep, and that would so be a bad ending to such a wonderful evening with a woman he hoped would want to maybe have a second date with. Heck, he hoped there would be alot of dates! She could be the ONE! He had to work at it, but after a few tries, Chad was upright on his feet! He staggered a bit to the kitchen and put a hand on the white door leading to the kitchen.

The kitchen was all white, almost sterile except fo the dainty yellow and pink flowered border around the room and the pastel colored dish towels hanging from the counter. Chad called her name but she was no where to be found! Then he noticed a door slightly ajar. He opened it and it looked like it led to a basement. A sudden flicker of fear swept through him as he suddenly had an image of her falling and could be possibly hurt! Chad steadied himself against the wall with his hand and took one stair step at a time. Damn, he was groggy! He called out her name but still no answer and the feeling of dread crept over him. He reached the bottom and when he turned, shock and horror filled his face! He wanted to scream but couldn't! He wanted to move but couldn't! Bile rose to his throat and he thought for sure he was going to choke on his own vomit!

White Picket Fences

My wedding day was the happiest day of my life! It was a day of enchantment; the beginning of a fairy tale. It was as close to my dream of a wedding as money would allow. When he saw me, I couldn't overlook the pride and love in his face, he even shed a tear as my dad walked me down the aisle. The vows we took were timeless and all I could do was see the life we would share before us. Our honeymoon was filled with passion and romance. Those were the happiest days of my life!

The first time he hit me, I didn't know what to think! My heart broke and hurt worse than my face or my rib cage. He kept saying over and over "Why did you make me do this to you?" I even believed I had indeed done something to make him do this to me. So I tried even harder to be the wife he wanted me to be. After he would hit me, he always was sorry, he always cried and begged me to forgive him. Then in the blink of an eye, he'd be raging on me once again. When I became pregnant, I thought he would stop, but he didn't! To save the life of our unborn, I left and went back home. He came for me! My dad was furious and even got into a horrible fight with him. For weeks, he told me that he was getting help and he would never hit me again and he would die without me. To my parents's dismay, I went back. I didn't want a broken home or to be a single mother, and he seemed so sincere! It was about a month after our first child was born that the beatings and the fights started back up. I got to the place where I walked on shards of glass not eggshells. I left several times after that and tried to stay with friends instead of family because I had already hurt them enough, but he always came and I would go back. The night he beat me so badly I had to be taken to a hospital, I finally had enough, and filed the charges to have him arrested. I got a restraining order but he walked right through that. When it didn't end there, I finally filed for divorce and was granted full custody of both our children. I thought that I could piece back some semblance of a life, but it wasn't meant to be. He came one day and broke into my little apartment and stabbed me twenty-two times! He's in prison now, and my children live with my parents. I watch them from time to time hoping that they don't make the same mistakes I made. I hope that they never hit another person in anger or rage. I sit here at Serenity Hills cemetary looking at my grave, and think about the happiest days of my life and how I had the big house with the white picket fence that now sits empty.

This is not my story but it's the story of so many women and even men who are the victims of Domestic Abuse. If you are a victim of Domestic Abuse, there is help out there! You have a voice and the grave does not have to be the extreme that things have to come to! Please get help if you or someone you know is in this kind of relationship! It's not your fault-its the abuser's fault and the only help you're going to give them is to get yourself help and get out!

Project 4 Update

Some of you or others anyhow have read the Project 4 preview. It's the latest finished project-even though it lacks a title. I've been working really hard on tweaking and my spell check has gotten its work out-let me tell ya! Sadly though there is a bit of bad news. I had planned to start sending query letters and submission packets to legit publishers and even a few electronic publishing houses. Sadly, I regret I won't be doing that. Right now Project 4 is going to be shelved. I loved writing it and it paid tribute to a friend. I wouldn't want someone using my name without permission and I don't want to do that to her. So I will be happy to announce that Dash's story, the second in the Renegade Night Series will be made available soon and it will be for E Publication soon.

Saturday Night Sept.4th Vid Pics

Okay I'll be brief, rented 2 movies earlier in the evening and here's my review of both of them.

Dorian Gray with Ben Barnes*you might know him from Prince Caspian-Chron. of Narnia* and Colin Firth-one of my favorite actors. The movie is the classic tale of a young man, Dorian Gray, who very vainly curses himself with eternal youth after his portrait is painted. Now unlike the black and white old movie, this one is filled with alot ALOT of eroticism. So this is one you don't want the teenagers seeing. Dorian arrives in London a bright eyed young man who has inherited his cruel grandfather's estate. He meets Basil, a very up and coming artist and forms a fast friendship with him. Basil introduces him to Henry(Firth) who after the portrait is painted molds Dorian into the reckless youth he wishes he could be. Along with the curse of the painting(that ages and takes on Dorian's soul which by the end of the movie is grotesque), Henry and Dorian both come to see just how really terrible things have gotten. Very good movie but it does have its dry parts. So is it worth the rental? Yeah I would say rent it-very good movie.

NeoWolf-horror movie

Neo Wolf is about a guy who falls for a girl who is in a traveling rock band. What he doesn't know is her and "the band" have a secret. This is no Team Jacob let me tell ya. It's got a B rating in gore and a pretty good bunch of make you jump scenes. It does have some sex scenes and some of the lines and movie ambiance is kind of chintzy. It was pretty good but nothing I would spend a New Release price for. Its not low budget but it barely breaks into the "medium" budget style movies. Not a bad rental but wait till it comes off the new release wall.

Okay those are the latest movies I've seen on DVD.

The last movie I saw theater wise was The Last Exorcism. Now to me this movie just blew! It was like a bad Blair Witch style movie in which all the effects is shot from the viewpoint of a camera man with a reporter that is doing a documentary on a preacher who admits exorcisms he's done have all been frauds. There are about 5 scenes in which you will jump out of your seat but the movie as a whole just blew goats! So if you want to see it, wait for the DVD. Save yourself the movie ticket!

That's just my opinion folks! Now my bed is calling me and I'll be having happy dreams of Kyle Schmidt since I caught Blood Ties. I know the series is cancelled but gah do I wish they'd show atleast the last season episodes instead of first season. But you know I needed my Henry fix so its all good!

Project 4

Think -picture if you will something along the size of Harvard University. Within the walls are students that for the most part look like every day students at a prep school. Imagine if you will, these children being very special! Some are telepaths-they can read minds. Others are telekenetics that can move things with a single thought. There are even ones from different worlds beyond our own. Shifters that can turn into animal forms even dragons! Some of the children at this school, are called Elementals and can control, you guessed it, the elements!

W.I.S.P is not a school though-its an institute for psychic empowered children and those of other worlds. Within their cold stone walls these children are put through riggorous testing and taken from their homes. For one, Madi Stennette, she was ripped from her parents and brought to the W.I.S.P because she is a pre cog. She has the ability to see things before they happen. A small child who comes to befriend an orphan alien named Jakrion. Jakrion is without home or people. For him, there is no one like him in the world! Jakrion has to have a diet of blood to survive and has powers that can be right down fatal should he ever unleash them. Together the two of them will form a bond that will grow into something more.

The Present Day-

There is a war going on! Anyone deemed "psychic" or "shifter" is immediately arrested by the Enforcers and shuffled away or killed! The psychic/shifter abled are fighting a battle to gain equal rights in the eyes of the world but there are those out there to stop them; to start a genocide! Madi has known the pain of loss! First with her parents and second with Jakrion. She doesn't allow herself to feel anything but a sense of duty! When the W.I.S.P was evaucated, her heart died within those flames and birthed was an elite fighter! Her biggest enemy besides Henderson of the Enforcers, is his one man brute squad that is only known by the name of Ghost. The winds of change are coming, and if she can meet with her contact, perhaps her people will finally have something to take to the World Summit that will decide whether or not her kind should have the rights every humanbeing has. Little does she know, her death warrant's been signed, and Ghost is watching every move she's making!

Just giving you some insight into project 4!

There is no joy in Mudville...Mighty Casey was killed in a drive by shooting.

I am trying not to beat myself up and not plotting ways to drive to Maryland to have a spastic fit on the people of Publish America. This last email I got from them just is the straw that has broke this camel's back! Since I signed with them my dream has been kicked and assaulted! First off my book is way to high for anyone to be able to buy it-so that means no book store(and I've called them all and can't tell you the money I've spent on long distance calling cards)will carry it unless I consign copies. I can't afford the copies. Second-they send me bogus coupon offers that really don't save me much money or anyone else. My aunt bought a copy at 29.99 plus shipping using a coupon that would make my book be 9.95 but they didn't. It's still well except for this weekend, its 34.95 because they put out a 70 percent discount coupon out there. But the one I got just minutes ago has just been the one to bite the big one with me! Here is a copy of the email:

Dear author:

PublishAmerica is hosting a book signing in Germany, during the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Signed copies of your book are also welcome at that event. Of course, you are too, and some authors have already said they will attend. But if you cannot travel overseas at this time, your book can participate at the signing anyway.

Softcovers only.

The signed books will be handed out with a brief introduction about you, the author, on a first come, first serve basis to any of the best and the brightest of the world's bestselling authors, foreign publishers, Hollywood producers, booksellers, and thousands of media that are expected to attend the show, who stop by our book signing event. The date is Saturday, October 9, the time is noon local time. Or in German, "Stunde zwölf".

This is an exciting opportunity to introduce your book to a broader range of book industry insiders.

Go to www.publishamerica.net, find your softcover, use this discount coupon: EuroSign. Use it on your softcover only. All non-softcover orders under this coupon will not be processed, so you'll be throwing your money away if you try. Coupon invalid with other offers. Minimum order volume is only 4 softcovers. And your discount is a whopping 50 pct! We will ship your order fast, because:

Be quick. We'll need your signed books back by no later than August 20 so we can ship them to Germany in time. Mail them, signed and all, to PublishAmerica, attn: Frankfurt Book Fair. Only books purchased under the EuroSign coupon qualify.

Thank you.
--PublishAmerica Bookstore

I looked up the Frankfurt Book Fair and it is an October event in Germany. However when I looked there are only 2 yep you read correctly, T-W-O American publishing houses listed and they are not Publish America or afflites. Im thinking I need to get an attorney! I signed with them under the belief they were a legitimate publishing company! So far the have legitimately screwed me! I didn't do this to make money but I understand a publisher does want to make money but I don't want to be the only one they're trying to milk blood out of! So any of you reading this-hit me up! Register you a blogger account and leave me some feedback! I can't be the only one out there-actually I know I'm not but I might be the only one to take them on. There has to be a way-a way to either get out of my contract and get my book rights back or for them to do what any publishing house does for its authors.

Movies Movies Movies

Last night I rented two movies: The Runaways and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. So to take a brief break from the book and writing-I'll give you my opinion on both!

The Runaways-I can't tell you how totally excited I was when I heard this movie was being made. Hold up-before I go any further I want to say that since I AM Sam and Speak-I have been a huge Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart Fan! Okay now I'll continue with my review.

When I was a young girl-and take in mind, I was about five or six when MTV first came out and I really wasn't allowed to listen to rock music(grew up in a Christian home). I can remember visiting my mother who was living with her soon to be mother in law's house. I was sitting in the back yard at these kid's house that was known as the Baker Kids House. The Baker kids were probably some of the poorest kids in town but they were the original Bebe's kids-that is for sure! Anyhow-that's another story, back to The Runaways! I can remember on Arzella's sister Missy's radio came "CCCCC CHERRY BOMB!" I didn't know what the song was about but from that point on I was hooked! I loved Cherie Curry and Joan Jett's voices and the guitars and the insane beat of the drums to their songs! I didn't really know that by the time I heard them that the Runaway's had even broken up but thanks to my Aunt Jenny who now and again got rock magazines, I could see this all girl band and at that time-I can remember thinking I wanted to be tough like that! I mean you don't get anymore kick your ass than Joan Jett. The girl is beautiful but just when you think she might be some soft female she's right there to kick your ass back into the stone age! So I was pretty stoked none the less to see the movie.

On a scale from 1-5 with five being really suck-I would have to give the movie a 3.75. Now this is Joan's story but it seemed like the movie was more about Cherie-which Cherie was a big part but you don't have a band with just one or two people and the book is amazing! I can't believe Joan let her book be sliced and diced! I really think Dakota done her best but there was something awkward something missing during her portrayal. Again you have to hand it off to the director and the script writers I guess. Save this one for the discount movies folks! And read the book-its better!

The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo was awesome! It's subtitled but its a raw, gritty movie that has more than a few twists and turns! It's a crime story and it was awesome! I've watched it twice now, and I'm thinking of getting the book and reading it! It's not a movie you want to watch with your teenagers that is for sure-but its an awesome movie none the less! It gets an awesome 5 starts in my opinion!

Okay there are my movie reviews! Enjoy!

New from Renegade Night

For those of you who have finally gotten the book, I want to share with you that I know have an Author's site on Facebook and on Myspace. . On myspace I added a short little story that tells the last thoughts of Warren Langford's blood slave, Thomas Hayes. I'm still not happy with my publisher but what can one do? So I'm trying to make the best of a situation. I still believe I have a great book/story and I still hope that they will drop the price of my book! I won't hold my breath though. If you purchase Renegade Night, I want to hear from you-good or bad reviews-I want to hear from you! I already have a second in the series, almost complete as well as two others that are nearing completion. One story is about a wolf shifter named Nyx, who has dedicated his life to the protection of not just his people but the people of a peaceful Indian Reservation. Nyx's animal spirit is wild, fierce, a predator, and when a young woman named Ivy comes into his sights, he can see nothing else! The animal in him claims her but she has claimed his heart! However, Ivy holds a secret and only time will tell if Nyx will be able to accept her for it, or simply walk away.

Another book, that has been dubbed: Project 4, is my first book that borders on a somewhat quasi Sci-Fi theme. I don't want to spill any deets on it just yet but I believe it will be a hit with paranormal romance readers as well as fans of sci-fi everywhere! So stay tuned!

What's New with the Renegade Night Series

As promised, I'm keeping you updated on the Renegade Night Series. So the first tid of good news is that here soon everyone will be able to get the book for 9.95. I'll be crossing my fingers because should they do that, then I can start booking signings at local bookstores and such plus more people will be able to read Renegade Night. Now for the second tid, I will be posting soon, an exerpt from the second book in the series that has been tentatively titled: Renegade Heart which is the story of Dashell "Dash" Baptiste.

Dashell Baptiste hasn't been home in almost well a century give or take. Dash was born an immortal but one fateful night of excess cost him his family, his home, but more than that, the life of his dear sister. He was cast out and when he joined the Guardians, he never looked back. As luck would have it, his best friend and his wife who is expecting their second child, has Dashell back in the heart of Louisiana. Out of guilt or maybe some sick curiosity he finds himself drawn back to the home that he'd left long ago. Enter in, Zoey Harris-a woman who is determined to prove her independence and take on a delapodated piece of land that her ecentric uncle left her. She's never been out of Indiana where she grew up in a small farm town. Now she's finding herself not only going head to head with some stranger danger that "claims" that the house and property is his, but that they're meant to be together? Yeah, the man is definately half-baked and headed to the looney bin! Well that is what she tells herself until she gets thrust into a world she would have never guessed exisited outside the realm of a Hollywood movie or Stephen King novel. Yet there is something quite scrumptious about the man who's sarcasm and "charm" should be out lawed that Zoey finds both insane and sexy at the same time! Dash had never thought redemption could be so sweet, but then again he's never met a woman like Zoey.

Theo Theodoridis -Greece The World Is Watching or they Should be

Many may not know the beautiful Greek model Theo Theodoridis. He has graced many a runway and magazine cover not to mention he has enchanted women the world over. I first read of his story from an author on Face Book. He was arrested for trying to traffic 4kilos of cocaine through a Sofia airport. My first thought was how and why he would do something like this. He has done so much charitable work and work for his country. He's been the golden child of Greece and here he is in jail for drug trafficking. Then I read more on the story and I think how can a country just flush him through a toilet basically. We see movies and read books all the time about people being used and threatened by drug cartels and individuals so I do not understand why it would be beyond the realm of belief that this troubled man could not have been the victim of such a plot. Perhaps they could not get over the amount but no matter what after I have read the stories from credible news and what the courts have issued my thoughts are here is a man who has been done wrong and 18 years in prison was too much. He'd never been in trouble but just the opposite.I think its a rot gut shame that a whole country has looked over the fact that he's given so much and done so much for his country to just leave him hanging. I'm not going to say that he's 100 percent lily white but which one of is is? Even in our own United States, he would have been given leinency given his life up unto this point. He needs help not 18 years in prison. He's not some drug cartel monster. So I ask that you join his plight and go as I did to the face book site to We Stand With you Theo Theodoridis.

Stories,stories Stories

You know I have a whole new respect for published authors. I think I have said that more than once. I find myself everyday waking up with something new I want to write about. So much so that I think Im getting ADD about it. I have 7 different stories now that I have half typed up and I need to finish them. Right now Renegade Night by Nikki Noffsinger is for sale on Publish America. Still not any luck with getting them to lower the price of the book but I'm working on it! I know Publish America has gotten a bad rap but everyone there that has a book is in the same boat that I am-we got suckered in but we all worked really hard and submitted our work in good faith so please visit http://www.publishamerica.com and whether you buy my book or not-check the authors out. I mean PA does have a return policy so if you buy something and you don't like it-send it back for a refund! I worked for over a year on my story and I put my heart into it. So make sure when you're buying from your favorite author-I just bought Sherrilyn Kenyon's Infinity-Chronicles of Nick which is AWESOME btw, don't forget us little guys who are trying to break into the wonderful world of books. Most of us want to make money but that isn't why we write-we write because we have a passion for it! Its not a hobby or affinity but a real life passion for writing stories and poems that come into our heads or even to write non fiction!

Great and Fantastic Read

Again Im going to do some advertising. I just got Lover Mine by J R Ward yesterday and it has been really really hard to put it down! I mean it! I think that this one might be her best book out of the series yet! I mean I don't see how True Blood(and I loooove True Blood the show)has HBO to make a series out of it and here J R Ward doesn't have squat for her Black Dagger Brotherhood! I mean these books are so much more than just a "romance"! I mean you have a total and complete story here-a world here that deserves either a TV series or a movie at the very least! It's a full on action that even Rambo would be proud to read let alone watch. I sooo love the Twilight Saga-it will always have a soft part of my heart but OMG THE BLACK DAGGER SERIES SOOOO TRUMPS THE CULLENS! Seriously even our favorite, Underworld and Blade Trilogy. They are THAT DAYAM GOOD! It reminds me of my own writing in the sense that I WANT to be able to tell a story that good! I want to make my characters come to life with a vengence and create a world for them. J R Ward and authors like Sherrilyn Kenyon,Laura Adrian,Lynsay Sands, and others deserve your respect and hommage so reguardless of what genre of books you love to read, make sure you patronize not only your local book stores, online stores like Amazon, but your favorite writers as well!

Writing...

Well as you all know I have a book published by Publish America. I want to tell everyone NOT TO GO THROUGH PUBLISH AMERICA! Please visit www.authorsden.com and www.writersbeware.com. I put alot of heart and soul into my story/manuscript and I'm heartsick about it but I'm not giving up! I am currently working on 5 other stories that I will submit to legit publishers/literary agents.

I have been reading alot of different books lately and I wanted to try something new, so I have to put a plug here for Amazon.com-if you are wanting to find a book but not sure you know what you're wanting to read-the forums at Amazon are a God send! Be sure you check them out!

Books On the Reading List

While Im creating my own possible best sellers and going through this maddness that is Publish America, I have been reading some good books. Here is a shameless plug, you can find many of these and even preorder the three soon to be released from Amazon.com.

The Masters of Time Rose Triology

So far I have read the first two:Dark Embrace and Dark Lover. The books are about immortal Highlanders who can leap through time and through their own magic save innocents from evil. The Rose women are all gifted in some way or another. Some are powerful white witches, lethal slayers(warrior women), and others have various psychic and empathic abilities. All the Rose women in these books are in the present day and are predestined for a Master of Time-the only hitch is neither of them knows it yet! The Highlanders are your very male and very ALPHA MALE warriors. So I totally recommend these books. Not only are they a highland historical kind of romance but they all the thrilling adventure that makes the Paranormal genre awesome!

The Breed Series by Laura Adrian

I have read all these books and OH MY GAWD! You will sooo not be sorry you tried these on for size! They are a total new approach to the whole "vampire" myth! These books currently can be gotten from Amazon at amazing low prices; much cheaper than the book store prices!

The Breed are beings that were sired by alien fathers. They do require blood to survive. Their biggest conflict is the fated blood lust that their "breed" falls prey to, however for the Breed Warriors with their Generation 1 and 2's the Blood lust isn't all they must worry about because an ancient evil threatens their exsistence and the exsistence of the world! The woman of the Breed warriors are no wilting wall flowers-they are strong women that have overcome alot in their lives and the decisions they make and how they fall into the lives of these warriors are life changing for them and are not some willy nilly Romeo and Juliet kind of romance. For when a Breed Warrior comes in contact with their ladies-all hell breaks loose-literally! They are rocked to their very core! So I totally recommend Laura Adrian's Breed Series.

Two books to check out from Sherrilyn Kenyon is the first of her Chronicles of Nick series, Infinity. The Chronicles of Nick begin where Nick Gautier enters the world of the Dark Hunters when he meets up with Kyrian of Thyrace; a Dark Hunter. These books are geared for a younger audience but if you are Kenyon Menyon-you'll be reading this book series and come to love it Im sure as much as you love her other books!

No Mercy-will be the latest installment of the Dark Hunter Series starring Dev Peltier and the Dark Hunter Dog's of War huntress Samia. Dev is a were-hunter; an Arcadian Bear that sports the Artemis Double Bow as a joke. Dev is ever the charmer and the doorman of his family's bar, Sanctuary. When Samia comes into the picture for the first time Dev has met his match! However Dev's story isn't the only one to be told in this book. No Mercy leaves off where Bad Moon Rising and Dream Warrior leaves off. Stryker has got a bag of tricks and a whole lot of mess is about to hit Acheron's beloved New Orleans. There will be No Mercy given and spoils will go to the victor!

Lover Mine by J R Ward-The first paranormal romance I read was Dark Lover by J R Ward and having read her entire series, I can honestly say that Lover Mine-has been well anticipated! The central story lies between John Matthews as he has come of age and his mission to save Xhex-the female he has pledged his life and love to whether she knows it or wants it! Xhex was kidnapped by the evil Omega's son, Lash and there is going to be hell to pay when JM finds her! I am sure there is going to be alot of action and drama as well as tears in this book and alot of questions will be answered. If you've not read anything by J R Ward-I suggest that you do, her Black Dagger Series is awesome and well worth the read.

All these books are and will be avail at amazon.com and I hope you check them out and share your own reading lists with me!

Publish America Disturbia

You know, I figure alot of authors who may not be instant sensations like J K Rowling and Stephanie Meyer have to do alot of grub work to become a successful author. I sent my manuscript off to alot of literary agents and publishers. Most didn't even give me much more of a denial than "We're not interested at this time" or "We're not acceptiong that genre" Some just didn't reply at all. I think one has to have a thick skin to be an author because rejection is a constant. Anyhow I found Publish America and I did read the good and bad. I seen where they went and sued for slander of their unethical publishing practices so I mean it gave me a little hope that I might have signed with a reputable company. Here is the skinny-I believe I wrote a pretty good story. I put alot of work and did everything they asked me to do. So far what I got was a book that has been escalated in price points-I got the email today saying they would not lower the cost of my book-plus the places that had agreed to me doing a book signing wanted me to consign copies because they could not shell out the money for PA books. So this is what Im going to say-I was so thrilled about being "published" however had I wanted to self publish I would have went that route but I wanted to be chosen to be published. So please keep visiting my site here and my ning page because Im going to keep working at it! I mean I don't expect anyone to pay 30 bucks for a soft cover book even if it is my loved ones. Anyone that does or has bought a copy-it means so very much to me that you did! However to those who haven't, I'll say this I will furnish you will an ecopy of the book! Just ask!

Ideas Abounding

I am currenly working on 6 manuscripts right now. The bulk of them have endings I have yet to write. One that I am currently working on like a demon is more of a historical romance. It's about my favorite time period, The Medieval era. I don't do outlines because I like to go with whatever ideas pop into my head. I have the characters and I do the research but as far as working out an outline, I don't. Now I have read alot of blogs and such that point out that Outlines are essential. I do do story crafting where I write out ideas and work out how those ideas relate to the plots. So I want to know from all of you that write even if its non fiction-what directions you use when constructing your stories.

Author News

Hi guys, just wanted to let you know that if I reach at least 50 books sold I will be hosting a book give away! Soon to come my own website and I've been looking into alot of different options. Besides myspace, blogspot, and facebook-I really have no clue as to getting a site started and the ones offered on PA's site are really complicated. Thanks to everyone that has shown support and purchased a book! It really means alot although I have to be honest and admit I am a little scared. I have been reading alot of mixed reviews for Publish America. More than one person got their book and saw all sorts of grammical errors and editing problems. I hope that is not the case with mine! I mean I hope its not been butchered. I believe I have a really good story and I worked really hard but there are countless authors out there that for some they have spent countless years before they had a major publisher pick up their manuscript. So for me its a bitter sweet thing. I want it to do well-of course and I totally believe that it is a good story. However I am realistic and Im not doing it because I think Im going to be rich-I mean don't get me wrong Old Dave needs the money...but I really want to do this because its something I love and because I think its what I was born to do-if its not in book writing it might be something else so I'm still working my way through-however Im not giving up on one day having a major publishing company like Random House,Little Borwn,St.Martin's Press, or some other company have one of my titles in their list of best sellers!

Renegade Night is already released on PA Website

I have to say that having my release date moved up is pretty neat! If you go to the PA website and put my name in the search bar you get my book! So in the next few days I will be calling bookstores*which for me means ones in other cities because we lost our Walden Books* to try and generate some buzz about it! The only thing I hate to say is the price point they have set the book to. I know many people will not be able to afford it and I'm going to work on getting the price down. Please don't let the price detour you from reading the book! If you look below-there is a exerpt from the book!

However, when he tried to sift through her mind, it was blank; as if a wall was in place he could not breech. He could not even hear one whisper of a thought. Strange, he thought to himself as he kept trying. The more he tried the more he nearly gave himself a headache. She was still walking and if he didn’t figure out something she was going to be in trouble! Alexi thought for a moment of how to proceed. Alexi finally decided to engage the woman in casual conversation and escort her wherever she was headed. She was walking further ahead so he quickened his pace.
“Excuse me; Miss, could you help me? I am new to your city and I am-I mean I am looking for an eatery or somewhere to get a drink perhaps.” He felt moronic as the words fell out of his mouth.
Manners had been lost to him for so long; it felt weird forcing himself to be so polite. However since he couldn’t manipulate her mind and didn’t want to scare her off, it was necessary to gain her trust. After all knocking her unconscious while he flung her over his shoulder probably wasn’t the best way to proceed. It might draw attention and he didn’t want to hurt her. The woman stopped and turned to face him, and he could hear in the acceleration of her heart just the amount of mistrust and fear. The woman looked around nervously as if she was weighing her options of either talking to him or making a run for it. He almost really smiled at the latter because for a human she was small; not tiny but compared to him it would have been funny watching her run while he had just to pick up his pace to keep up.
“Well, um-there is a few fast food places across town and there’s Randy’s Bar and Grill just down the street next to the carwash.” She replied anxiously. It was good that she wasn’t running. Still she was nervous and frightened but she wasn’t running. Alexi took this as a token from heaven.
Alexi smiled to keep things light. He knew the renegade he was tracking was very close, perhaps even watching them now.
“Thank-You, but I am afraid I have been rude. My name is Alexi Tussier. Would you mind having something to eat or drink with me?” he used perfect etiquette.
Lainey was waiting for someone to jump out of the bushes or something and yell “punked!” but there was no Ashton or camera crew. Lainey took a good look at this man; he was gorgeous! He was so big though; broad shoulders, tall, and looked as if he lived in a gym. There was something about this tall stranger, something more than his dazzling good looks. His dark eyes were shadowed by his long lashes and hair. His hair was so black that it actually looked a little iridescent in the glow of the street light. His face was well defined and had a day’s worth of stubble on it. The man looked delicious; sinfully delicious and dangerous.
Alexi had to move the woman away from the street and get her somewhere public where there were people. Warren Langford had been apprehended more times than he could count. Always the council had given him numerous chances and now Warren’s luck had run out due to the fact the council was finally tired of his antics! Warren was dangerous because he was a renegade; a vampire that not only fed off humans but also killed them. Mordacai had given the order to all Guardians to find Warren and dispose of him. Warren’s views were that humans were nothing more than cattle. Alexi set his focus back on the young woman standing in front of him. Alexi wasn’t immune to that there was something about this woman; almost magnetic.
“We can go to Randy’s; it’s just down the street. If you’d like, that is.” The woman said with a slight polite smile.
She was still pretty tense. He was standing over six feet tall and dressed all in black. He was all but stranger to her yet somehow she knew he wouldn’t hurt her. Plus he was drop dead model gorgeous! She felt like a mouse next to his great height. His hair was as black as a raven’s wing and shone in the light. It was just past his shoulders, and Lainey found herself picturing what it would be like to have her fingers in it. She shook her head to get her mind back on track.
Warren cursed into the night as he saw Alexi Romanov, the council’s one man brute squad walk away with his midnight snack. Warren couldn’t help but feel just a teeny bit elated, after all the council had sent their very best when they sent Alexi. What a boon it was for his ego. It would make for an interesting game! Warren shrugged his shoulders the man walking his dog on the next block over never even knew what hit him, until it was too late.
As they walked to the bar and grill, Alexi scanned the dimly light room then settled back on the young woman.
“I have told you my name but I have not had the pleasure of knowing yours!” Alexi’s tone was polite and charming as he pulled a chair out from a table they’d stopped at.
His lips were full and masculine. He had strong facial structure. His eyes that were as green as emeralds seemed to sparkle and were framed with thick dark lashes. There was some sort of danger to this man, and she could feel it. He smiled, briefly but his gaze was still intense. It was so unlike her to just hang out in the dark let alone go out to eat with a total stranger. She had the oddest feeling in her chest that he was oddly familiar though and that was the only reason why she was here sitting across from him now. Lainey forced her eyes off his face and body and silently hoped she hadn’t looked oblivious.
She turned her face up towards him, and pushed through her nerves, “I’m sorry, my name is Lainey Thomas. I’m sorry I didn’t introduce myself earlier. Are you new here to Aurora Falls or just passing through?” Lainey was nervous as hell, here was this total stranger and yet she was drooling over him and he could have been a mass murderer for all she knew.
There was something about the way he looked at her, as if he wanted to devour her. It was almost a magnetic connection. He smiled but there was something about those swirling pools of jeweled green; like he was battle scarred or something. She took note of how he constantly looked around the room and how he concentrated on every word he said. Alexi was up to bat at being uneasy. He didn’t quite know how to answer her question. So he blurted out the first thing that passed through his mind.
“Oh, I am here on business.” He uttered. Alexi was finding it hard to look into those depths of blue and violet. Something was stirring in his chest. Something he intended to fight. He kept telling himself that he was doing his job; this was all part of his job. Nothing more and nothing less he reminded himself.
Lainey loved the way his voice sounded. It was a rich deep baritone. It had a slight accent that she couldn’t quite place but it just added to her list of things that made her heart jump and take off running.
“Where are you from, if you don’t mind me asking? You have somewhat of an accent.” She asked innocently.
Then suddenly an image of Esther came to her mind. ‘God, please don’t let me sound like a nib nose!’ she lamented to herself.
“No, it’s okay. Yes, well Louisiana has been my home for quite some time now but I do travel a lot!” he said quickly but he didn’t sound from the south or Creole, Lainey thought. More like European or something.
They hadn’t been seated long until a waitress sat down two water glasses and set down two menus. Lainey wondered to herself, exactly how she was going to be able to eat much less make small talk with a real life GQ model across the table. There were other women at Randy’s; many of them more beautiful than she was and she could tell they knew it too because they kept giving her the evil eye! She focused on the menu.
A waitress came and took their order. Alexi ordered a glass of dry red wine. Lainey ordered something light, a Sea Breeze and the Island Chicken plate. Then the waitress took the menus and flitted away, nearly tripping as she had her neck craned to keep her eyes on Alexi. Lainey pretended to not notice. Alexi almost chuckled, because he did notice! The hint of blush on Lainey’s cheeks and the way she had slightly narrowed her eyes was almost his undoing.
Lainey suddenly became self conscious since he hadn’t ordered any food. Then she started to worry that perhaps he didn’t order because she might have ordered something he felt obligated to pay for. Alexi sensed her distress. This woman was quite interesting and he found himself oddly wanting to smile at her little bout of jealousy and distress. He couldn’t read her but he could sense it though. Something was bothering her and then he concluded that it was because he wasn’t eating. He sighed.
“I dined earlier. I was looking more for of a social spot; company you know.” He explained coolly.
Lainey didn’t know if she should have been a bit concerned about that or not. The waitress brought their drinks. Lainey sipped hers while she watched him hold the wine glass. It was funny how a man with such powerful and perfect hands could hold something as delicate as a thin stemmed wine glass, but he did. Lainey has not even half way through with her drink when the waitress brought another glass of wine and Lainey’s chicken. Lainey cut a piece of her chicken that was basically Caribbean jerk chicken and offered him a piece.
“It’s really good, and Randy marinates them all day. It’s one of the more popular items on the menu.”
Alexi held up a hand and took a drink of the wine. He didn’t want to tell her he’d dined on two bags of blood and could still taste it on his lips. That had more than satiated his hunger. She prattled on about various points of interest, and Alexi found himself intrigued with her. She had long pale gold blonde hair and violet-blue eyes framed with long lashes. Lainey had a small narrow nose, high cheekbones, and a heart shaped face. She had almost a regal look to her appearance. Lainey was a real beauty and no doubt would be a prize to some man. There was something in the way her eyes lit up when she would smile that warmed him. Something like a childlike innocence; or the way an angel would look and it threw him for a loop. He focused on her mouth, the two full lips that looked like a pink bow. Any man would be lucky to have those to brush up against their skin or to kiss.
He was caught up in the violet-blue depths of her eyes and almost imagined what it would be like to move his lips against hers while looking into them. Then Cosette came to his mind. Alexi had a job to do and he needed to get his head back in the game! This was no time for fanciful thoughts! He’d play his part and then he’d move on to his next assignment. That was how it was with him! In all the years he had been with Cosette, he’d never give women a second glance. He’d gotten sick at his stomach in the old days when he’d fed directly from the source. Alexi had cringed every time he’d have to glamour a woman feeding her false fantasies and empty promises. Lainey didn’t make him sick but he pushed those thoughts of attraction right out of his mind! Trouble was, they seemed to push right back in!
“So, Lainey tell me what do you do for a living?” he asked wryly to try and get his head clear.
Lainey suddenly became embarrassed. Here was a traveled and educated not to mention devilishly handsome man and here she was a lowly librarian.
“Umm, I work at the library here in Aurora Falls. I’m just working there until I can get something better!” she stammered.
“Do you live close by?” he asked, not knowing himself why he wanted to know.
Lainey gave him a peculiar look; after all it was a little odd he’d want to know where she lived unless he was stalker or serial killer. She banished the latter when she noticed he was waiting for her answer.
“Yes, well I live about 8 blocks from the library in an apartment complex on the west end of town. That is about as interesting as my life seems to be, I don’t even own a cat!” she answered lowering her eyes.
He leaned back casually back in the chair. “You don’t look like a librarian?” he asked nonchalantly; while thinking, you are much too beautiful to be stuck in a library.
Lainey shifted in her chair and took a drink of her dinner cocktail. “Well, I have a Bachelors’ in English Literature and Liberal Arts. I am hoping one day to get a job working at a publishing house as an agent and work my way up. What is it that you do?”
Now he was in the hot seat for sure and it was turned on incinerate!
“I am well you could say I am in to acquisitions.” He answered a bit qualmish. Alexi didn’t want her to catch on to his anxiety so he kept the conversation going.
“Why would you want to work at a publishing house? Are you a writer?” he asked using a much lighter tone.
Lainey finished chewing her food and then took a drink before answering. “I write but that is just for leisure. I want to be a publisher; you know work my way up from an agent and learn the ropes. Take more school if I need to.”
That impressed him, that she was ambitious. Suddenly he caught the sensation, the warning- it was Warren!
“Would you please excuse me for a moment?” he didn’t wait for her answer as he stood and strode toward the back of the bar.
He had to get outside to look around. Lainey was appealing more to him than he liked and it was irritating the hell out of him. For over two hundred years no woman other than his beloved Cosette had appealed to him! Unlike his fellow vampires, he had shunned love and sex. Dash Babtiste his usual partner, enjoyed human women-well actually any woman was worth Dash’s time. He found all women beautiful, ‘different flavors’ he had put it, and when he wasn’t doing his job he felt no shame in bedding women sometimes more than one at a time. Peter, another Guardian, had even married a human female and later turned her. It wasn’t uncommon. As for Alexi, he couldn’t let Cosette go! Alexi walked out the back door and cleared his mind so he could pick up Warren’s scent so to speak. He could sense him close by but he could be anywhere! As he scaled the adjacent building he heard a muffled scream about ten miles south.
Alexi took off streaking through the darkness. In an alleyway Warren was bent over what looked to be a homeless man drinking his life’s blood. Warren raised his head abruptly and hissed at Alexi with blood running from his mouth down his chin. Alexi reached into his coat and drew out his tiger head silver Kukri dagger. Warren dropped the man who was now dead and leaned into a crouch to defend. Alexi was cool; he’d fought stronger opponents than Warren and knew exactly what Warren’s first move of attack would be. He could read Warren without effort but unlike Alexi; Warren couldn’t get a read on him because Alexi was blocking Warren from his mind. Warren spit a curse at Alexi. Alexi stood ready with his dagger tightly gripped in his hand.
“So you are eager for my head tracker?” Warren growled.

Renegade Night will be released in a week!!

Hi,

My name is Nikki Noffsinger and in the next week, at www.publishamerica.com, my very first book will be available. Renegade Night is my first attempt at a published paranormal romance novel. Publish America is not a self-publish site and I did have to submit a manuscript. It's been a long long long process that started in October of 2009.

Renegade Night was originally called Guardian of the Night. It is a new spin on the Vampire story. I promise-they don't sparkle but its just another way to look at vampires. I have always loved vampires since I was a kid and was an avid Anne Rice fan. I hope to one day be as good as she, but I'm starting out so we'll have to see where it goes. I hope you all purchase a copy and fall in love with the story.

Renegade Night is about a young woman named Lainey Thomas. When Lainey was but a young girl her mother and father were killed savagely. From the time she was five until she was in her late teens she had been through foster homes and a children's home. Settled in a small town post college, she is a librarian for the local library in Aurora Falls. She dreams of working at a publishing house in New York and leaving the hum drum life of Aurora Falls.

Alexi Romamnov Tussier is a hunter; an assassin. He works for the governing council of his people to hunt down renegades. Renegades are those vampires that threaten vampire and humanity alike. They kill to feed and kill for the thrill of it. They are sociopathic, narcisstic, and evil. They have lost all empathy and fear nothing. They are predators. Alexi like many other guardians; is executioner to renegades. A duty he relishes. Unlike many of his bretheren, he was not born a vampire nor did he want the dark gift when it was forced upon him. Alexi was born into one of the most powerful families of all Russia. When his uncle Nicholas and the royal family were taken and chaos errupted in his homeland; he fled with his mother and ailing sister. Being a young boy who not only had lost his family but lost his mother and sister, Alexi had to depend on no one but himself. He grew up in the streets of Paris,France. He had thought his life had changed for the better when he found the love of his life Cosette. Then one night his dreams of family ended when he came home to find his beloved who was with child being fed upon by two vampires. That night had changed Alexi forever! He was given the dark gift by Mordacai Vermeer; a guardian and council elder who found him. Alexi never wanted this life and vowed never to care about another living being. He did his job without feeling or conscious. He was a cold assasin.

One night his path would cross with a woman who he could not control or read mentally. In his world that only meant one thing: A mate; his lifemate. Fight it as he may he had to protect Lainey Thomas because at this very moment she was being stalked by one of the most dangerous of all renegades, Warren Langford. Warren had once been a great healer to not just to his people but to humans alike. Warren was also one of the first guardians when their council formed. It is not sure why he turned and it is not clear why he has become so obsessed with Lainey Thomas but one thing is for sure-Alexi will protect her with his life if need be but the real fight is the one he wages war with his heart as this woman threatens to tear down his defenses. Together and with the help of the guardians, Lainey and Alexi will have to fight not just for their own survival but to end the Renegade Night.
