Hayley's Reviews Proudly Presents: The Hunter, the Bear, and the Seventh Sister~World of the Arcas

Their lands are legendary. Overflowing wealth, prosperity, and youth are what the Arcas possess. However, their entire world is facing extinction and their whole way of life is quickly digressing into apathy and pain.

The Hunter, the Bear, and the Seventh Sister by B.I. Woolet kicks off this science fiction/fantasy epic story of the world of the Arcas and their fight to hold on to their lands and their way of life. This book ranks up there with Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and The Mortal Instruments  series. It is truly that good of a read. They take the reader on a journey that transports them into the story. B.I.Woolet has created a world and characters that are going to be favorites. The World of the Arcas are going to stir the adventurer and thrill seeker within the reader.

Book Blurb

The last kingdoms of Arcas possess enduring youth, beauty, and wealth but have slowly crumbled under the weight of endless apathy and a painful past.
The rising evil of Gurges Ater now threatens to reopen the ancient kingdom pillars created long ago as passageways between Earth and Arcas. With access to both worlds, Gurges Ater will quickly conquer the weak kingdoms and establish his own throne.
Can Jackson, along with a paranoid bear, a lone hunter, and the surviving seventh sister work together to protect both Earth and Arcas?
Or will the unlikely heroes allow their own fears, pain, and past to paralyze them as Gurges Ater opens the pillars and claims the throne?

Then DARKNESS. Cold darkness surrounded him everywhere. Jackson panicked. What did I do? Where did the light go? Finally, through his shivering worries of a frosty death, he remembered Cygnus’s instructions. The portal only stays open while all four fingers continue to grasp the corners of the transport gem. Upon holding the gem of Earth, he had released his precision points on the transport stone and shut the portal. Jackson blindly explored the jewel in his hand, pressing each finger on a point until light shot through the room again. He drew another door and ran back into the warm desert cave. Procyon was gone and Jackson’s fears grew wild again. After one last glimpse of the remarkable grotto-like pillar room, he ran back down the stairs to the cave entrance. The Hunter and Eltanin now fought face-to-face on the dry ground between Vega and the left mountain: flame meeting sword, snap chasing swipe. Procyon was already panting and paddling through the water to join his battling companions just as Sirius was violently thrown near the left mountain by the blunt swing and force of the dragon’s head against his body. Jackson dove back into the oasis to meet The Hunter for their final escape. But as Jackson swam, the dragon lunged at The Hunter, spewed a quick flame, and then whipped his tail around, knocking The Hunter flat on his 81 back. Before The Hunter could regain his footing, the dragon was on top of him. One large, clawed foot held down The Hunter’s legs while only the sword’s blade separated the dragon’s teeth from The Hunter’s face. Hot drops of spit flew down, sizzling the clothes on his chest as Eltanin snarled, roared, and snapped. “AHHH!” The Hunter bellowed in pain as the dragon put all his weight on The Hunter’s legs and reared up, flinging the sword into the water by swiping forcefully with one front claw. Eltanin then shot thick flames at Procyon who was nearing the battle. Awaking from his stupor, Sirius darted to join the fight while Procyon ran from the raging, fiery breath. “NOOOO!” Jackson screamed in anguish as he crawled onto the bank and watched the mighty Eltanin arch his neck for the final attack.

Orlund Johannes looked out at the tumultuous waters swirling twenty feet below the falls. Taking one last breath, he pushed against the rocks to his right with the blade of his paddle. Plunging down, down, down through the liquid vector splashing violently around him, he held his paddle straight alongside the cockpit and tucked his body as close to the deck as he could bend. The riotous waves were deafening, but his mind remained clear and focused. He dove straight down, beneath the rapids. Battle raged against the orange hull of his kayak, flipping him instantly. His paddle’s blade crashed into a hidden rock pile underneath the plunge pool. It broke, sending the half in his left hand flying violently backward into his lip and nose. He was still holding his breath but now tasting blood. Watery vortexes continued pushing Orlund under. Like the gates of Hell, merciless rapids above barred him from reentering the world of the living while the waters below beckoned him like an open portal to enter a new realm. Terror and adrenaline flooded him, but Orlund was used to these sensations. Each time he developed a new method of cellular manipulation within his field of biomedical nanotechnology, he felt the same. One wrong digit could cost him his hold on a groundbreaking experiment; one wrong twist below the rapids could cost him his hold on the breath of life. Orlund felt both powerful and powerless releasing the useless, broken paddle from his right hand. Then, instinct took over. As his chest constricted from the lack of oxygen, he tightened his abdominal muscles and rolled. Orlund’s head and body fought up through the current in the plunge pool. His mouth gasped open, pulling in the taste of moist air and blood as he balanced himself above the water. The rapids pushed him downstream as his friend Zach paddled out to him. “That was a monster!” Orlund yelled out as his friend approached. “Yeah, you look like you got in a fight with a monster.” Zach shook his head, pointing at the blood and bruising. “Dude, I told you to chuck and duck!” Jeff lightly smirked as he threw a rope from the bank, grateful his friend was safe. Orlund grabbed the rope through his gray gloves as Jeff pulled him to the bank. The three buddies set up a quick camp to rest and eat before they continued down the river. The weather this fall was unseasonably warm out west, allowing them to kayak much later than usual. Occasional clusters of trees in this rocky, desert terrain still held the majority of their yellow, red, and orange leaves. Colorful leaves along with tan-and-red-striped rock, and the bright yellow sunlight surrounding them, created a deep sensation of visual and physical warmth. This quick, early-November weekend trip to the wilds of Utah was Orlund’s “last hoorah” before winter’s cold took over. Orlund, a man of action and an innovative genius, typically surrounded himself with sterile environments, precise equipment, top technology, and statistics. The wild outdoors was his mind’s retreat, and adrenaline was his preferred drug. Kayaking every free moment supplied Orlund with a frequent dose. Orlund pulled the rubber wetsuit off his arms and shoulders near the chosen campsite. After sitting to remove his shoes and tugging the suit’s legs off, he rested for a moment and admired the amazing bluffs. Out of nowhere, a silvery, white image appeared in the distance, blazing with a striking contrast to the red-rock landscape. “Guys, look at that!” Orlund anxiously pointed toward a natural rock arch in the distance where the brilliant image was standing. “What’s it this time?” Zach asked, uninterested. Orlund’s antics and jokes wore thin after a while. He wouldn’t fall for his friend’s convincing emotional hype this time. “Dude, quit playing around and help get the fire started,” Jeff added. “No, I’m dead serious. I couldn’t make this up! There is a man with huge white wings up that hill by the arch. He just appeared dragging a kid along with him.” “Your paddle hit you good, huh?” Zach wasn’t buying it and wasn’t looking up. “A man wearing wings. Poor guy just missed trick-or-treating in the desert.” “Ha! Funny, Zach. Let’s see, the storyteller has threatened us with tales of bears and water snakes and cave dragons before, but a drag queen in the desert might be his scariest tale yet!” Rather than laugh or reply with a sly remark, Orlund continued to stare at the arch. Faint voices echoed off the canyon lands until Jeff and Zach casually looked up to see where the noises were coming from. “What the!” Jeff exclaimed. “I told you. That man has wings.” Orlund scrambled to his feet and grabbed his dry pack concealing his pistol and phone. “I’m going up there. I think the kid is injured.” The arch faded out of sight as they climbed the steep bank. When the huge, curved landmark came back into view, no one was there. “Where are they?” Zach scanned the uneven terrain. “Maybe it was just a large bird?” Jeff reasoned. “No. That man definitely had hands and legs. Feathers, yes, but no beak.” Orlund continued, unraveling his black .44 Magnum and phone from the waterproof layers. “Dude, seriously?” Jeff looked at his armed friend, preparing to fight the vanished villain. “It could have been a Native American ritual costume! Maybe the boy was starting a coming-of-age ceremony. There’s a reservation up north.” Zach would often bring up Native American culture. He claimed to be some sort of expert because his great-great grandfather was supposedly a full-blooded Cherokee. “No way, that bird man was even whiter than you are,” Orlund teased. “Hey, I’m not totally white,” Zach protested. “Believe what you want, man, but one-sixteenth Native American wasn’t enough to get you a scholarship, and it really isn’t enough to claim you’re a minority,” Jeff jumped in. “Whatever. You’d both claim me as a Native American in a second if it got us another research grant.” “That’s right, Tonto,” Orlund agreed with a smile. The three reached the base of the huge arch towering before them. The canyons lay quiet. A few birds flew high in the distance and several rodents scurried in the valleys below, but no humans moved within sight. “There’s nothing here. We’re just hungry.” Jeff turned to walk back to the river. “Let’s go eat.” “Wait! We walked all this way. Let’s at least get a picture under the arch.” “I’ll take one of you guys first.” Orlund replaced his pistol in the dry pack and grabbed his phone. “Step back a little so you’re right under it.” The young scientist took several rapid shots with the tap of his finger. Suddenly, Jeff and Zach disappeared from the frame on his phone. When he looked up, the arch appeared empty, though strange, colorful heat waves seemed to be dancing within it. “Did you guys find something?” Orlund walked under the arch expecting to see his friends on the other side of the natural rock columns, but he saw much more. Orlund joined his paralyzed companions as they witnessed a black horse and rider gallop, then dive off a cliff to their left into the ocean below. A bear, woman, and man ran from the scene and climbed up and over the white fortress walls. “Someone is hurt!” Jeff alerted. As a former battlefield surgeon, he instinctively ran forward followed by the other two. Nothing could prepare them to see the dead body in front of them. Blood pooled around and on top of the corpse with a severed stump at the end of his arm and a large hole through his chest. A second lifeless body was lying nearby. “What is this place?” Orlund grabbed his .44. White-winged flags waved in the sunlight on top of the fortress while the sound of horns and shouting echoed beyond the walls. Suddenly, soldiers, wearing red tunics with white wings and three suns, streamed into the large courtyard in front of the seaside peninsula. “There! At The Bridge!” Soldiers shouted. “Those Earthians killed Sulafat! Find White Wings!” Threats, commands, and accusations exploded through the air as otherworldly troops stampeded toward the confused travelers. Orlund dropped his gun in alarm, terrified they would arrest him for murder. Dead bodies, angry allegations, and sword-wielding soldiers devoured the three friends with panic. They bolted frantically back through The Bridge. In moments, they were in the familiar canyons just past the arch. They raced over rocky mounds and down steep valleys. Stopping to breathe or look behind weren’t luxuries they couldn’t afford. Frenzied upon reaching the campsite, they threw together only essential gear, grabbed their kayaks, and slid back into the safety of the white rapids. The vivid visions of the dead, the strange creatures, and the great white fortress haunted their well-educated minds while riding away on the river. For their safety and sanity, the friends swore each other to secrecy. Once safely back in the company’s private jet, they headed to the Pacific Coast. A quick medical-tech innovations seminar and then a day of calm ocean kayaking would clear their troubled thoughts. But the extraordinary world they had wandered into was going to collide again with them soon, for the ocean tides were slowly pushing a creature to shore, a creature that didn’t belong to Earth.

Summer Heat Part Deux

As promised, I come bearing the gift of the second night of authors that rocked the Casbah this evening along with all us that were apart of day 1 of the Summer Heat Book Event. The past two days have been filled with great fun, LOTS OF LAUGHS, and new books to add to our reading lists. Be sure to check each of these authors out (I will include their links) and at least give them a nice comment.

1. Denyse Bridger-In Denyse's own words this is what our award winning multi genre author had to say about herself: I am a native of Atlantic Canada, born in the country’s Easternmost province, Newfoundland, and raised in Nova Scotia. A lifelong dreamer, I began writing at an early age and can’t recall a time when I wasn’t creating in some artistic form. An active interest in the American West, and to a lesser extent the American Civil War, has been a lifelong obsession. Cowboys have been a love-affair that began at the tender age of three, and eventually expanded to encompass an equally timeless passion for pirates, Greek Gods, and Ancient Egypt. The other side of the Old West intrigue is an affinity for Victorian England, particularly the 1885-1895 part of the century. The other endless love affair in my life is Italia and all its magic, beauty, and dazzling culture.

For more on Denyse Bridger visit her official web page to get the latest info, newsletter, books, and where you can get her books!

2. Katt A Barrett- Kat Barrett lives in her small Connecticut home with her husband of many years.

She finds writing relaxing and enjoys creating tales of romance, erotica, and science fiction/fantasy. Kat often mixes the genres, adding mystery and intrigue to her books to create an exciting and captivating reading experience.

If you enjoy her work, please keep an eye out for her name because there will be more to come.

Information on her earlier works can also be found on her website Tazariansaga.com.

Katt is full throttle when it comes to being an author. Her genres include Erotic, Menage, and Paranormal. Here is her books that are currently ready for you to buy up and read!

3. Suzy Shearer - Suzy is a wild card but who better to describe Suzy than Suzy. Here's her author bio in her own words.

Single, all alone and fancy free; I live in the western suburbs of Sydney Australia with one very spoilt dog and two equally spoilt cats to keep me company. I am a Buddhist, an author, an artist, a computer nerd and a voracious reader. I have a penchant for crazy coloured hair - pinks, purples even rainbowed .... it changes every month - oh yes, and for tattoos! My books always feature older heroes and heroines; ranging from mid 40s to 60s. Just because we are older doesn't mean we aren't intriguing, desirable, open to challenges and willing to experiment. I want my readers to understand that sexy isn't just for the under 30s ... lol. When I am not writing, I am usually painting - I am a water colour Artist. My subjects range from portraits and animals to nudes and landscapes. I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I have enjoyed writing them.

4. Serena Akeroyd- There is no real way to describe Serena to you other than to use her own words. Believe me, you will want to pitch that Grey book and step inside her land of Oz. Putting the Raunch in Romance! Writer of contemporary, paranormal and historical romance. Creator of Book Boyfriends since 2013. A hapless romantic, a lover of Happily Ever Afters, Serena decided to craft her own adult fairy tales and writing has become the dream-come-true she never realized existed. The Naughty Nookie series, a contemporary collection of stories revolving around three very modern and unique women, is not all Serena has to offer. Watch out for werewolves, vampires, BDSM and historicals...
It's all in a day's writing!

5. Elle Boon-Elle Boon's tag line is "A dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste." So right off you know that you are in for a hot, steamy, and sexy read and won't be disappointed. Her genre includes Paranormal and Erotic. I'll let you read for yourself about Elle.

"The first book is Max and his twin Malcolm’s story called Selena’s men. You guessed it, this is a ménage. They’d given up hope of ever finding the woman who was their Fated, until they both started having erotic dreams of a tiny blonde woman. Of course when they finally find peace and love, an enemy they’d thought they had banished to Hell thousands of years ago, Cronus, has found a way to come back. Now Max and Malcolm have to find a way to save the woman they love before Cronus steals her from them. Just when they complete the triad bond, they realize she was actually much more than just a normal human woman. I hope you’ll read my story that comes out with Siren publishing on April 3, 2014 and should be available through Amazon, Barnes and Noble and all other e-book book sellers within a few weeks after that."

6. Andrew Jericho-It's often a rare thing when you have a romance book event that you actually have a male author show up. Andrew Jericho just didn't "show up" he DOMINATED! If you are a fan of M/M romance then look no further than Andrew Jericho. I'll let him speak for himself. "I am a ManLove erotic romance author for Siren-BookStrand Publishing. LGBTQ rights activist, humanitarian, and freelance journalist/photographer. As a long supporter of LGBTQ rights, I am thrilled to be able to reflect this in the publication of my books which explore the lives of gay men in real situations of life and love. My writing proves love and erotic attraction are the same regardless of gender and/or sexual orientation. Often, my characters select themselves, as I provide them with their literary voice. Once a story develops, I am compelled to see it through to completion. My characters make sure of that fact. Love and eroticism are two very important and powerful emotions that drive not only my characters, but my style of writing as well. In their purest forms, I have seen those concepts transform my characters into better individuals. Also be sure to check out my author page at Siren- BookStrand! It contains my author bio, profile, and all books available. Through my activism it is my desire to provide a voice for those fighting to maintain their humanity, civil liberties, civil rights, and human rights. We are all one. I am a gay transgender man, who lives with my partner, John Jericho, and family. John, or Baby Doll, as I refer to him most times, is the inspiration for the Life With Baby Doll series updated frequently on my Website. We have two children. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, photography, eclectic tastes in music and the arts, and also browsing my local library and art galleries." Want to know more about Andrew? Here are his links to his books, his professional website, his art, and his own story about coming out and life.

7. Suzette Cauler- Suzette writes Contemporary and Erotica for the masses. Her books are filled with amazing chemistry, passion, seduction, and "sizzle". Suzette Rose Cauler has loved books (all types really) for as long as she can remember. As a child, she'd get lost in books for hours, using a flashlight to read under the covers long past bedtime. She read her first romance novel as a preteen and was immediately hooked by the swoon-worthy heroes and daring, spunky damsels. Though her reading tastes have definitely matured, Suzette continues to enjoy romance novels, especially those of the erotic, paranormal, fantasy, or historical variety. She writes almost as voraciously as she reads and typically falls head over heels in love with her heroes.Though everyday types of romantic situations do appeal to her, stories that include adventure, intrigue, or danger have always made Suzette's heart go pitter patter. If they incorporate some science fiction too, she is even happier. You'll find elements like these in most of her stories as well as strong heroines who can fight their own battles but sometimes enjoy letting someone else take the lead. Suzette lives on the East Coast with five special people who help keep her spirit young and her imagination fresh. (courtesy of Amazon).

Summer Heat and A Whole Lot of Great Authors You Should Be Reading

So a month or so ago, I was asked if I wanted to participate in a book event on Facebook. Let me first tell you that if you're an author, these are great to not only participate in but to gain new friends and fans. I did it because I love meeting new authors and new people. Plus, Tina Donahue is awesome and I adore her. So back to Summer Heat. I had such a great time with these ladies and all the guests who showed up  that I felt like I just had to share the fun with all of you out there in Blog Land and Readersville. Everyone started out by posting their books, links, and everything that had to do with their books and them being an author. Then the real fun started. I am talking about contests and games that went as mild as "Guess the Song That Plays at Your Funeral" to pictures of some serious man candy with suggestive captions to "Name that Penis!" Okay maybe it wasn't "Name that Penis" but I am sure Cynthia Knoble and Michelle Roth are totally going to steal that. Some of them had me laughing until I cried and my own son looked at me as if I had sprouted a second head and that was only day 1. Summer Heat finishes up tonight so I hope you guys who read this decide to stop by while you've got some free time.

So to all my new found author friends and sisters of the pen, I am showcasing everyone that has participated so far. This is quite a list and I am urging EVERYONE to put these ladies and their books on your TBR lists. They are truly PHENOMENAL!

       1. Our lovely hostess with the mostess, Tina Donahue: Tina writes Erotic Contemporary and Erotic Paranormal. She has a the Outlaw Realm Series that is definitely a panty scorcher. Here's her author bio: I’m an award-winning, bestselling novelist in erotic, paranormal, contemporary and historical romance for Kensington, Samhain Publishing, Ellora’s Cave, Siren Publishing, Booktrope, Luminosity, and indie. Yay! Booklist, Publisher’s Weekly, Romantic Times and numerous online sites have praised my work, and trust me, I’m forever grateful for that. I’ve had my books reach finals in the EPIC competition, one title was named Book of the Year at a review site, and others have won awards in RWA-sponsored contests. I’m actually featured in the 2012 Novel & Short Story Writer’s Market. Talk about feeling like a freaking star. Before my writing career, I was the editor of an award–winning Midwestern newspaper and worked in Story Direction for a Hollywood production company. Outside of being an admitted and unrepentant chocoholic, I’ve flown a single-engine plane (scary stuff), rewired an old house using an electricity for dummies book, and have been known to moan like Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally whenever I eat anything Mexican or Italian. Yeah, I like to eat (burp).

2. Cynthia Knoble-Cynthia Knoble is wickedly delicious when it comes to her books and sense of humor. I am going to paste her official author blurb about her: Although I am a newly published author, I have written my entire life. In addition to my two currently available novels, a third novel and a series of erotic shorts will be published very shortly. A lover of all things creepy and scary, paranormal elements abound in my stories. I also love to draw, paint and cook. In fact, I am a trained chef but now I devote my energies to writing full-time. I am  also the mother of two sons and I live with them, a dog and a cat in southern Ontario, Canada.  Cynthia's writing genre is romance but her books range from sweet romance to erotic.

3. Michelle Roth- Now let me tell you about Michelle Roth, she is killing it with her Transfigured Series. However, she hits a home run with her Contemporary romances as well. Michelle Roth is definitely becoming a force to be reckoned with. I personally just read her first paranormal romance and all I can say is "GIMME MORE GIMME MORE!"

Here's her titles including her first paranormal romance (welcome to the club Michelle).

4. Mardi Maxwell- Here's a little about Mardi:
I love the quirky and the unique. I believe in UFOs, ghosts, and that we have a moon station on the dark side of the moon. lol I have a wonderful son and DIL who have been kind enough (after much badgering and hinting around) to give me three lovely grandchildren. I'm a very young grandma ;-)
I've loved reading since I was a little girl although just about every book I ever read I rewrote in my mind. After a while I decided to just start writing my own books. My best friend dared me to send one in, so I did and to my surprise it was accepted.
I love books that make you laugh, cry, sit on the edge of your chair in fear that the couple won't work it out, and then finally cheer for them when they do. I'm a true believer in a happy ending and won't read a book or watch a movie that ends any other way.
I write every day but I always find time to spend with my family and friends as well as my hobbies (cooking, gardening, traveling, and ceramics).
My personal motto is "Regret is a wasted emotion." Live well and happy reading.

Mardi's genre is erotic paranormal BDSM style. Forget the Fifty club and join Club Mardi's Dom's Club of Mystique and Zarronian Warriors Series

5. DeCota Jaymes-DeCota Jaymes is published through JK Publishing. She is a new author and she mixes her paranormal with some hawt erotica. In her own words, this is her author bio: I started writing as a hobby. I didn't know that I would actually enjoy it until my friend read some of my work and loved it.... I hope to make this a well deserved creative breakthrough for myself. I never was creative in the crafting area, but words are easier to manipulate. They are your thoughts, feelings, and your life all in one package. Most of my writings have bits from my past. Some are little things that would never really matter to some; others are life changing and I make it to where it has a happy ending. Not everyone gets one of those and not many situations warrant them either. My extreme case of sarcasm and odd humor make it even more interesting.

Here is her latest release:

6. Emma Anderson-Emma Anderson is a six title author and she is definitely a fine asset to club Paranormal Romance genre. Here is an excerpt from the first leg of the Summer Heat book event from last night in her own words: These voices belong to our many characters, and when I say constant I mean it. Mine especially like talking to me just as I’m about to go to sleep, which is helpful for someone who was a light sleeper before my boys were born, and now barely gets two hours before waking up again. (Note my boys are now ...7 and 9, so I have no idea what my body/mind is playing at not letting me have a decent night’s sleep).
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Emma Anderson. I currently have six romances books out on the shelves of Amazon, Bookstrand, Kobo,….. Well you get the idea! And another one due to be released in the next few weeks. So far they are all paranormal. My romantic mind likes to see the creatures of nightmares having their own HEA.

7. Sara Anderson- I am Sara Anderson. I am an author published through Siren Bookstrand. I have 4 published books with one releasing on February 11t through Siren. I have been married for 20 years.
We have three children together: a son and two daughters. We live in rural southern Missouri. It is beautiful here with the gentle rolling hills and green rural acreage. There are cows everywhere since this area has two of the top beef producing counties in the state. Cowboys are easy to find here, and country music is the default music of every grocery store and gas station
. Sara Anderson mixes her writing  paranormal romance with spellbinding characters. Her utterly sinful series, Warriors of Dareen  is a must read!

Sensuous Book Tours Proudly Presents The Alisa Anderson Book Tour for Fallen Angel Part 1

Fallen Angel: A Mafia Romance
 (Roman Crime Family)
Alisa Anderson & Cameron Skye

"Fallen Angel is a dark, tasty appetizer with echoes of "The Sopranos." It's like picking up a Lindt truffle on your way out of the store. There's just enough to wake up your taste buds, or in this case, other parts due South." - Margo's Red Light District

"Gritty, sexy and with a strong but vulnerable female lead. Fallen Angel is a surprisingly good read." - Ingrid Hall

"Is Jess going to get sucked into a world with Nick that will destroy her or will she bring Nick to the other side and they find happy ever after? I will be grabbing the next book soon. I need to know more about this story and what the future holds." - TBird, Crystals Many Reviews

"Fallen Angel is a quick and sexy read. I hope to get the chance to read the next installment. I want to know more about Nick and the dangerous games he's playing. - Angela, Crystals Many Reviews."

Based on events from author, Cameron Skye’s life. Where does fiction meet reality? You decide.

Fallen Angel is a mafia romance serial novel released every 4 to 6 weeks, at approximately 8000 to 11000 words each. Due to sexual content, implied and actual scenes of abuse, violence, organized crime, language and frequent illegal drug use, we recommend this to mature audiences, ages 18 and over, who are comfortable with this subject matter.

PG 13 Excerpt from Fallen Angel Part 4:

Nick filled his glass with scotch, watching the ice swirl before slamming it back in one gulp. Jess was appalled at how he was just sitting there, acting as if nothing happened. She was stunned she was keeping any sense of composure.

She was scared. So very scared.

Scared of what she just witnessed.

Scared of Nick.

Scared of what she was feeling.

Most woman would have ran the hell out

of there the minute their boyfriend pulled a gun on someone, killing them in
cold blood.

But not her.

Terrified? Hell, yeah. Petrified?

Obviously. But if she was honest, she’d have to admit a horrifying truth to
herself. It was also…

Intoxicating. Scandalous. Tantalizing.

An adrenaline rush like nothing she’d ever experienced in her entire life.
A dangerous drug, one that excited her, turning her on in ways she never imagined….

Welcome to the dark side, kid.

she lives for a world full of controllable anatomically correct, android men programmed to meet her specific feminine needs (wink, wink, nudge, nudge with a big waggle of the eyebrows). who look like the rock. and ian somerhalder. and idris elba. and that's it she promises. variety. gotta have variety, right?

but alas...apparently that exists only in johanna lindsey's genius mind. so until then, she enjoys her incredibly warped sense of humor. she reads tons of erotica and romantic, drippy goo that makes her heart go pitter patter. then she thought, hey. what, she said to herself. (softly, of course, so no one finds out she is indeed, 2 nuts short of a fruitcake) maybe you should write this stuff too. maybe someone will like it and maybe buy it. so she said, huh, you think? then she said, well...yeah, i wouldn't have suggested it...(inserts sarcastic tone) and then she was like lose the attitude, ok? then she was all, would you just shut up and write, already? sheesh! and she did. :)

Paranormal Love Wednesday Blog Hop: Cursed Awakening Leads To A Savage Dawn

Ivy Morgan has finally gotten her chance to have a life of her own. Romance is not part of that plan.

Well that was before Nyx Wahpeton walked into her life.

Now Ivy's wondering if she can trust Nyx with her dark secrets but can Nyx trust her with his?

Nyx is a wolf shifter and the lives of all those he loves hangs in the balance for one woman; a human woman who has been hurt deeply.

While the sparks fly between them and the passion they share engulfs them both, an ancient evil lurks in the dark and Nyx will have to fight to keep his people and Ivy safe.

However, evil doesn't always lurk in the darkest of places and betrayal hits the hardest when it's the one you know.

READ IT NOW!

Ivy was afraid at first, but she could now see why Lorna loved it when Terrance picked her up on his Kawasaki. It was really exhilarating; almost like flying except she had to hold on or she’d fly right off. Nyx drove through town and down the old Route 44 before getting off and heading down some dirt roads. Everything was beautiful to Ivy! The statuesque trees with their green leaves and needles, the chestnut brown earth, the green foliage that littered the ground, and the way the sun streamed through the canopy of leaves. Nyx pulled the bike to a halt in front of an old covered bridge. He got off the bike and helped Ivy off as well. When they removed their helmets he led her over towards the bridge.
“This is the old Thatcher’s Bridge. It’s one of the oldest I’ve been told in the whole U.S. of A. My father...er grandfather helped build the bridge.” He explained with a bit of pride.
The old Thatcher Bridge was raggedy, but there was something really beautiful about it. It was like when one looked at a work of art that didn’t really look like it was anything until you took the time to stand back and really see it. The bridge looked as if at one time it might have been red and the wooden shingled roofing had all but either worn away with time or met with some sort of natural catastrophe. She peered in and could see beams of sunlight and dust motes sifting through the air.
“What happened to it?” she asked as she looked up at his face.
“Well, the bridge got old and there was a flood long ago. Something bad happened and well no one travels the bridge anymore. The elders at the Res as well as the town’s folk decided that the bridge would no longer be used. However, no one could bear to tear it down. So here it sits. I’ve been dying to be able to fix it up. I know that sounds kind of dull, huh?”
“No, no it doesn’t. It would be beautiful again with just some new boards, shingles, and some paint. What terrible thing happened?” Ivy was curious now. It really impressed her that he’d want to take on such a project, and take it on for such selfless reasons.
Nyx was a little uncomfortable. The story of the Thatcher Bridge was a sad one that not a lot of people spoke of. He cleared his throat and began the tale.
“Well, the bridge had been in operation for about ten years or so. It was how the people from town could get to the Res. The bridge had been a symbol of good faith and good relations between the ‘white man’ and the ‘red man’. This was back when both the town and the Res flourished with goodness. You know, even though there was all this goodwill there were still prejudices. The mayor at the time had a daughter. That daughter had been seeing an Indian boy much to her father’s displeasure. They would meet at this bridge and see each other. One night during a storm, the Mayor had discovered that his only daughter was with child. He threw her out and since there weren’t any phone lines at the Res at the time, she couldn’t very well call her lover. So she got in her father’s old pickup and headed for the Res.
The new road to the Res hadn’t been built yet so she had to cross the bridge. The storm was raging, the water was rising and that creek there was starting to flood. The car stalled on the bridge. The water was rising and well to make a long story short that great big hole, there…” he motioned to where one wall of the bridge had a huge gaping hole in it, “her truck with her in it was overtaken by water. They found her four days later, drowned. The Indian boy later found out why she had been on the bridge and in his despair, he hung himself. It was a really sad time; a horrible time. Ever since the bridge has been closed and never repaired. It sits as it is now, like a grave marker.” Nyx said sadly.
Ivy’s heart clenched in her chest at his story. It was truly awful what had happened.
“Nyx, I’m so sorry! That is such a sad story.” Ivy said as her voice broke.
Nyx looked over at her, and put an arm around her as he started to see a small tear streak down her face. His lips touched her forehead. It felt so right that she was in his arms and he couldn’t ignore it!
“I’m sorry I brought you here. I just wanted you to see it, but I shouldn’t have. It’s why I want to repair the bridge and make it something as it once was; beautiful!” he admitted.
“No, I’m glad you brought me here! It really is beautiful set amongst the trees and I bet you’ll make it even lovelier than it was before. It shouldn’t be a reminder of tragedy. God knows there are enough tragic reminders around without this being one of them.” she replied softly.
Nyx smiled but couldn’t help but feel the ache in her voice. Lorna’s word’s played in his head, “When it comes to suffering, she’s no stranger to it.”
“Ivy, what tragic reminders do you have?” he asked without really thinking. He wanted to recant his words but couldn’t.
Ivy’s eyes grew even sadder and he could sense she was retreating into herself.
“I, I don’t really like talking about it. They’re n-not important.” She stammered as she stepped out of his arms.

“You know, you can talk to me if you need to! I mean I don’t want to intrude but no matter what it is that bothers you, you can talk to me if you want.” he offered.
She gave him a half smile that didn’t reach her eyes as she turned to look down at the creek with its bubbling stream flowing along. Nyx decided to drop the subject. The last thing he wanted to do was be pushy. He just hoped she’d learn to trust him. Whatever it was, he didn’t care; he only wanted to help her if he could. Nyx cared about her even though he knew he shouldn’t.
“Come on, I have someone I want you to meet!” he said as he led her back to the bike.
Ivy hoisted herself on the back of bike and wrapped her arms around Nyx wondering where they were going next but not caring as long as she was with him now. Nyx started up the bike and again they were off. They headed on down the dirt path beyond the bridge. They came back up onto the main road and he headed east on it. The sun was just starting to make the sky look peachy-pink, but there was some blue in it still. Nyx pulled off onto another dirt road that looked more like an old service road. At the end of the road was a small drive way. Nyx stopped in front of a small house. It looked more like a log cabin out of an Outdoor magazine. There was a middle-aged woman rocking in a chair snapping green beans into a terracotta bowl. She looked up and smiled as she waved at Nyx.
Nyx helped Ivy off the bike and led her towards the front porch to where the woman was now standing. “Margaret, this is a friend of mine, Ivy Morgan.” He greeted. Ivy stepped to the side of Nyx and shook the woman’s hand. She smiled warmly at both Ivy and Nyx.
“Margaret White Elk has lived here her whole life, Ivy. She’s a good friend to my family, and well just about everyone else! She doesn’t say too much, but Margaret is one of the finest women I know and she makes the best fry bread!” Nyx whispered.
Margaret made a gesture with her hands and smiled. Ivy guessed that Margaret must be deaf, and wished she knew sign language. However, Nyx seemed to be communicating pretty good with her. Inside the woman’s small house was an iron stove, dried fruit and herbs hanging from the ceiling on a rack, a modest counter top and sink combo, a small Frigidaire, and cabinets with see through panes that showed her dry goods and dishes. On the oak looking table, there were bowls of fruits and nuts along with a few fat candles. Everything looked homey and neat. Woven rugs were placed strategically and decoratively. On the walls were pictures in heirloom frames and beautiful paintings. Ivy would have bet her next pay check that she had painted them herself. A few of them were nature landscapes and animals, but there were four that really looked like abstract art pieces. The colors were vibrant and every detail had been included. She could have sworn that if she had touched the painting of a trio of bear cubs that she would have felt a fuzzy face instead of a canvas with paint.
Margaret went straight to a cabinet and took out three glasses that she filled with tea. All the colors from the wooden floor to the furniture were all bright earth tones. The cabin seemed just as cozy as the woman in front of her. Margaret took out a covered bowl and set it on the table. It was fry bread. Nyx took a piece and broke it in half. He gave a piece to Ivy. She took a nibble and then a bigger bite. Nyx hadn’t lied; this was good stuff! Margaret made some more gestures that were probably American Sign Language. Nyx laughed and nodded.
Ivy was through her half of bread when Nyx handed her another piece. Margaret laughed. Ivy felt her face flush with embarrassment. Nyx patted her hand. “Don’t worry; you are giving her quite a compliment by eating her fry bread! Margaret can hear if you speak to her; she just can’t speak.” He explained.
“Thank you for welcoming me to your home and thank you for the bread! I’ve never had anything like it before and it’s delicious!” Ivy smiled at Margaret who smiled back and clapped her hands.
Margaret signed something and Ivy watched Nyx shake his head “no” and then she signed something else and Ivy didn’t miss the wink he gave her.
After about an hour and a short walk around back so Margaret could show Ivy her garden; Ivy and Nyx were back on the bike heading towards town. Ivy pointed out where she lived with Lorna. It was dark by the time they reached the house. They stood for a span of moments that seemed like eternity as they stared at one another.
“You should probably go in, Ivy. I really liked spending time with you today and I know Margaret liked having you around!” he said next to her ear.
Ivy didn’t want him to go. “I liked spending time with you too! Margaret is really nice, but was she born mute?”
Nyx’s eyes shadowed at that moment. His face looked pained.
“No, no she was married once. Her bastard husband beat on her. He was an alcoholic and he tried to strangle her. He crushed her voice box. Before, she met and married him; she had one of the most beautiful singing voices on the Res! Margaret’s husband died while coming home from a bar one night. He had been drinking and started a fight with the wrong guy. The guy tried to keep from fighting him, but the drunken asshole pulled a knife and the guy while trying to wrestle the thing away accidently ended up stabbing him.” he sighed and looked away.
“Margaret must have really loved the bastard though because she never again married.” Nyx knew a little more details but he was going to spare Ivy the play by play.
Ivy bowed her head. She knew all about how volatile men whether they were drunk or not could turn. It gave her shivers.
“She seems to really like you though; your visits must be a comfort to her.” Ivy whispered.
Nyx raked a hand through his hair, thinking to himself; once again he’d said something that had pained her, “Yeah. She is a very good friend to my mother. My mother always took care of Margaret as a child and then when she’d been hurt by her husband. I was little and Margaret walked over fifty miles in the snows of winter when we were all very sick. It was so bad that no one from the Res or town could come, but Margaret did. It’s ironic, Margaret is a healer among my people and hers yet she couldn’t heal herself.” He looked at Ivy and knew that he had totally killed the mood. He cursed himself.
“Hey, enough about Margaret though. I really liked spending time with you and I would like to see you again, how about tomorrow?”
Ivy shook her head, “I can’t. I have to work a double tomorrow. I won’t get off until after seven.”
Nyx just smiled, “Hey, I don’t mind as long as I could see you! If nothing else, I could give you a ride home!” He found himself hoping that she’d say yes, but he wanted to see her smile.
Ivy thought about it and gave him a half smile, “Okay. I work down at Grady’s Café. I get off at seven.”
Nyx took his hand and placed it slowly and gently on her cheek as he leaned in slowly and barely touched his lips to hers. Ivy knew she should bolt but the man drew her in like a magnet! For a moment she was lost in the sensation of his kiss. In a lot of ways, it was her very first kiss!
When she parted her lips ever so slightly, Nyx deepened the kiss. Immediately heat flushed her whole body and she became a live wire. He rested his hands on her either side of her face as he kissed her. Never had she ever been kissed like this before. She’d always felt cold and inhuman when Papa Paul had touched her. She didn’t feel that way with Nyx. Suddenly she became all too aware of her body’s reaction and she withdrew.
Nyx knew that something had turned her off but he just smiled and gave her the space she needed. He wished he knew what it was or rather who had hurt her. Nyx didn’t press for details; he just hoped she’d open up about it.

Ever since I was a child I have loved books and stories. I am a mother of two and have been married to my high school sweetheart for twenty years. I have been a long time fan of horror, fantasy, and Science fiction genres since I was a kid.

My dream is to be able to create stories that make you, the reader feel as if you are apart of that world and where your senses come alive. Writing paranormal romance gives me the vehicle so that I can write for my favorite bad boys (whether they come with fang or claw) and give them HEA's that aren't damsels in distress but women who we all can relate to.
