Peter unlocked the door to their room and pushed it open for Alex to pass through. She stepped inside and walked to the middle of the room before she turned back and caught his gaze. Her eyes told him what she wanted. Within several quick steps, he narrowed the gap between them, dipped his head, and pressed his lips to her forehead then to her temple. His hands floated up and wove into her soft silky hair. As she tilted her head back, he skimmed his lips down over her jaw to the slender column of her throat. She murmured his name. Adrenaline rushed his veins. The sweet sound of her voice saying his name almost drove him insane. He willed her to say it again. And when she did, in that erotic purr, his body nearly burst into flames.

His eager mouth found hers. She lifted her arms and wrapped them around his neck, pulling him closer. He traced her lips with his tongue, urging her to part them. She did. Her sweet flavor seeped into him deeper than he’d ever imagined it could. It would forever be embedded in his brain.

She unlocked her grip from around his neck and tugged at his shirt, pulling it out from under his waistband. Her busy fingers shot up and undid the buttons, and then she yanked the shirt off him. She ran her hands down his chest, leaving a trail of burning flesh under her fingertips. Reaching for the waistband of his pants, she undid the button and zipper before giving a slight tug on the material. His pants dropped to the floor.

Peter reached down and grabbed Alex’s soft cotton dress just under her rib cage. She lifted her arms, and he pulled it up over her head. He stepped forward and stared at Alex’s pale breasts housed in a skimpy, black lace bra. He skimmed his burning fingertips over the top of the lace. Her body quivered at his touch. In one quick flick of his fingers, he opened the front bra clasp and filled his greedy hands with her soft breasts. He massaged and kneaded them as his mouth crushed down on hers, urgent and desperate. His pulse pounded, he needed to be in her.

Peter scooped Alex up into his arms, carried her to the bed, and set her down. He yanked off his boxer shorts and climbed in beside her. A murmur of pleasure floated from her lips when he sucked the tip of her breast into his mouth. He nipped at her lightly with his teeth, and she arched her back.

He slid his hand down her flat stomach and under the waistband of her black lace panties. She was hot, wet, and ready for him. Her hips rose, and he eased her panties off her. Blood rushed in his loins.

He returned his mouth to hers. The kiss was quickly desperate. Tongues tangled, teeth nipped. Her slim fingers reached down and wrapped around his penis. She stroked him then slid her thumb over the sensitive tip, and then stroked his shaft again. Her soft touch was amazing. His mind went blank, to a place where only sensation existed. He was nearly there. He wanted to be in her. As if she read his mind, she released him and opened for him. He sheathed himself, rolled onto her, and drove into her, hard and deep. Her smoldering gaze held his as he pumped again and again, sinking as far as she would allow. He watched her eyes go opaque as she cried out with pleasure. Her body shuddered beneath him. Covering her mouth with his, he swallowed her sound. Her muscles gripped him, driving him further to the edge. His mind reeled, his vision grayed, and his orgasm exploded.

They lay motionless, their bodies nearly melted to one another. Her hands slid flaccidly from his back onto the bed. He felt weak and satiated; his mind close to empty but his heart full.

Suz Lore thought she had everything she wanted, a job as an engineer and a position on a colony ship headed to another planet. That was before her arranged ménage marriage with Robert Smith and David Bradford turned into a disaster. She’d thought they were building more than a sizzling sexual relationship, but all they do is argue now. She isn't surprised when they're sequestered in a room in order to reignite the passion between them and learn to trust again. Robert believes she betrayed him while David is stuck in the middle of their conflict. Getting Robert to talk about what made him angry is difficult, but they discover there's far more behind their problems than a message with misleading information. A virus has overtaken the ship's computers, put them on a different heading and cut them off from all communication. They must work together to find a way to survive and rebuild their relationship.

New Release: Lost Storm Rider (Horse Passages, 2) by @JenniferMacaire @EvernightTeen #SciFi #Suspense

Lost Storm Rider (Horse Passages, 2)

Carl is a herder, one of the elites who follow their horses through the galaxy in search of new planets. During a passage, Carl's worst nightmare comes true when he falls off his horse. He ends up on Planet Earth, lost for nine centuries and now nearly empty because of a deadly virus.

He's rescued by Ruby and her father, who nurse him back to heath, because Carl isn't immune and nearly dies when he catches the virus. He tries to adapt to "Mother Earth", a planet run by robots, where everyone is either a breeder or a sterile worker. As time passes, he becomes more attached to Ruby. He doesn't know if he can leave Ruby to her fate, or if she'd consider leaving her family and everything she knows to follow him.

Excerpt:

"Wait a minute," Carl said. "What's the matter? Why the sour face?"

For a minute, he thought that she wouldn't answer. Then she looked at him squarely and said, "I saw you. I smiled at you, and you flinched. I know what you were thinking. You were thinking how awful it is I can't have children, and you were feeling sorry for me."

Carl took her by the arms. "Is that what you think?" he asked.

"Of course. You don't have to apologize, or feel sorry for me." She drew herself up. "I don't whine or moan about it now, and I never will," she added fiercely. "Even when I have to go away."

"Go away?" That didn't sound right. "Go where?"

Her face fell. "I forgot … you don't know anything. If you're sterile, you don't count here. I'm just an extra person on Earth. Sterile people are expected to become helpers. We work in schools, hospitals, or as nannies to help. We stay in special housing. I'm almost twenty, so I'll have to go soon." She shrugged. "That way, we don't get in the way of people who can marry and have children. I can't fall in love with anyone. It's forbidden."

Carl just gaped at her. She lifted her chin and looked at him, her expression infinitely sad. "The first time I set eyes on you, Carl Cadet, I thought my heart had stopped beating. You're the handsomest man I've ever seen, and there's something else about you. You're kind. I can tell. There's compassion in you. I kept thinking to myself that if only I wasn't sterile, I could easily fall in love with you." Her mouth twisted awry and she blinked back tears. "But I can't. So if I sound snappish or angry sometimes, it's because I still haven't quite come to terms with having to give up so much."

"I'm sorry." He could hardly breathe.

"Don't be. I'm alive, and I met you. And we're friends. That counts for a lot, doesn't it?" Somehow she managed to smile brightly.

He wanted to say something else, but he was struck by her nearness, by the scent of her skin, and by the way the sun lit up her short, ash-blond hair and made it glow. Instead, he found himself pulling her toward him, cupping her chin in his hands, and kissing her softly on the lips. His hands, he noted with surprise, were trembling.

There was a moment of silence while Ruby stood still, her face tilted up, her eyes closed. She shook herself loose and stepped back. "You didn't have to do that," she said.

Excerpt:
I’m alive?
Yes. Still alive…
Again.
A tube runs from an IV bag into my arm, the plastic needle burrowing under my skin like a tick. Thank God I was unconscious when they put that in. I cringe at the thought of being deluged with so many psyches at once—paramedics, nurses, doctors, all of them touching me.
Where are my clothes? They must have taken them off when I was out. This flimsy gown can’t protect me. I want to tear off the tape securing the IV tube to my skin, rip it off like a Band-Aid. I want out of here, but then I see Mama sleeping beside me, her body sloped in a plastic chair. I shouldn’t have done this to her again. But I had to try.
A plastic clamp pinches my finger, connecting me to a heart monitor. Three inches further up, my wrist is wrapped in gauze. Two months ago I would never have had the courage to do this—or any reason to. But now, feeling the staples beneath the bandage, I wonder how deep someone has to cut in order to die?
The curtain jerks back, the metal rings dragging across the ceiling rail. Mama snaps to attention. I half expect her to stand and salute.
“Miranda Ortiz?” says a woman in a beige linen suit and crisp white blouse. She is thin, stiff, and colorless. She reeks of gardenias.
“I’m Dr. Walsh from Mental Health,” she continues. The plastic laminated nametag hanging from her neck confirms this.
Dr. Walsh extends her hand, but instead of taking it, I grasp the edge of my sheet and pull it up to my chin. Other than this stupid hospital gown, it’s the only barrier I’ve got right now.
Mama stands up and reaches over the bed to shake the doctor’s hand. “I’m Mira’s mother, Ana,” she says wearily. She starts to sit back down, but Dr. Walsh interrupts.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you in person, Mrs. Ortiz. However, I’d like to speak to your daughter alone, if that’s all right.”
Dr. Walsh is insistent, in a polite sort of way. Mama leans toward me, and for a split second I think she’s going to kiss me goodbye. Though deep down I almost wish she would, instead she offers me her gentle smile and tucks the sheet under my shoulder.
“Please don’t go,” I whisper.
“It’ll only be a few minutes,” she says. “I’ll be just outside, all right?”
Mama brushes a strand of hair from my eyes with her manicured fingernails, careful to avoid contact with my skin. She smiles at me, but her eyes are wistful. As she walks out, my insides tighten up, and I suddenly realize how much I’ve missed her touch. My instinct is to cling to her like when I was small, but instead I press my arms stiffly to my sides like a corpse.
A security guard opens the door and accompanies Mama out into the hall. Dr. Walsh takes Mama’s empty chair, crosses one leg over the other, and lays a clipboard on her knee. “So,” she begins, “you cut yourself last night. Is that right?”
Her voice is casual and smooth, as if she’s just asked me what I ate for dinner. She waits for me to respond. When I don’t, she glances down at her clipboard. “I understand it’s not your first attempt. You were here a couple of weeks ago, I see. Overdose, but no permanent damage done.”
She glances up at me, pausing in case I have something to say.
I don’t.
