#NewRelease: Fractured Fantasies: Vol. 2 by Torie James @Writergurl216 #PNR #Romance @13_below

In the burning lands of rapturous fulfillment and unrequited desire, one false step can lead down the path towards delicious destruction. Impassioned appeals, sinful seductions and fevered longings can often hide degrees of twisted tenderness but don’t be fooled. Not all prisons have bars, silence can be deadly and even the sweetest face conceals monstrous insanity. Tread lightly, choose well or find sexual satisfaction at the dead end of one-way street.
Book One | The Factory
A glittering citadel born from blood money and power tripping provides the perfect stage for its mysterious owner and his young, dazzling wife. Before the final act is called and the curtain falls, they’ll both be tested to the limits of their personal, moral compasses. And neither of theirs point true north.
Book Two | Nevermore
Newlyweds on a romantic, Spanish honeymoon find themselves battling against stereotypes after a short engagement leads to a much longer commitment. In the shadows of infatuation, however, lay the groundwork for a cruel coupling that even death cannot part.
Book Three | The Nomad
In a post-apocalyptic, dystopian future, one young warrior woman travels the world in search of help against The Great Evil. When her travels take her far underground to the lair of the last great Champion, she finds duty mixing with desire and a tender temptation that threatens her mission.

Excerpt (PG-13):
"Snorkeling. Diving. Windsurfing. Hiking. These are a few of my favorite things."
Lennie blinked sluggishly, shaking her head to clear the sedating haze forming. "Sorry. What?"
Allan smirked, his hand sliding into hers casually. "Nothing says love more than a bride already bored."
"I wasn't bored. It's just that I wasn't listening."
"Aren't you supposed to be stroking my ego?" He moved closer, free hand resting on her hip and smoothly pushing her back into a leafy alcove, the fronds thick enough to hide them.
"Is that what we're calling it? Your ego?" Lennie reached down, running fingers over the fly of his pants and licking her lips seductively.
Allan's breath quickened, hand tightening as he backed her up against a tall tree, his mouth claiming hers in rising desire. That was all it took, one kiss and she began to frantically pull at her clothing and his.
This time, it was Allan who put the kibosh on.
He grabbed her hands, stepping back with a seductive grin. "C'mon, I want to show you the view from the Falls. And by view, I mean you, on your knees and me behind you."
Lennie shivered in anticipation. "Make it happen, Cap'n."
Allan chuckled, guiding her onto a worn path that circled upwards in varying degrees with each few feet. Curiously, there appeared to be no other tourists coming down but that only strengthened her desire to be alone with him.
Tranquil from a distance but deafening up close, the cascades of water conjured cascades of equally powerful emotions in Lennie's brain. It quite took his breath away. It was simply spectacular, the most magnificent sight she had ever beheld.
Until she turned to see Allan's eyes trained on her and forgot everything else. Dreamy bliss decorated his gaze, sending a sharp, lovely thrill through her. She moved close, wrapping her arms around him and tilting her head back to smile. "How do you do it? One look and I'm melting faster than a bomb pop on a hot summer day."
"Is that a compliment?" His hands settled low on her hips.
"Yes. No one has ever made me feel the way you do."
"No one else ever will." He grinned, lowering his head to sweep a kiss across her mouth.
"No one else will ever need to."

The truth is, I'm just an overgrown kid with a vivid imagination who loves to write and share my crazy with the world. My future plans include, hopefully, buying a lovely Scottish castle and convincing Queen Elizabeth I that I'd make a fab addition to the Royal Family.
Three years ago, I finally got my 'brave' on and submitted a wee story about true love, honor, friendship and the magic within us all. That story was Timeless Night, the first book in a five book series I've named New Camelot. Since then, I've been lucky enough to have published Timeless Desire (Book 2 of New Camelot), Beauty and The Feast (A New Camelot Thanksgiving Novella) Ties That Bind (The Cloie Chronicles I), Fractured Fantasies (Valentine's Venom), Fractured Fantasies (Volume 1) and coming soon, Fractured Fantasies (Volume Two).
I live in Southern California, a stone's throw from Disneyland, with my family and the most ridiculously spoiled pets anyone could imagine. I wake everyday with the determination to make this life as random, quirky and beautiful as it can be.

New Release: Lost Storm Rider (Horse Passages, 2) by @JenniferMacaire @EvernightTeen #SciFi #Suspense

Lost Storm Rider (Horse Passages, 2)

Carl is a herder, one of the elites who follow their horses through the galaxy in search of new planets. During a passage, Carl's worst nightmare comes true when he falls off his horse. He ends up on Planet Earth, lost for nine centuries and now nearly empty because of a deadly virus.

He's rescued by Ruby and her father, who nurse him back to heath, because Carl isn't immune and nearly dies when he catches the virus. He tries to adapt to "Mother Earth", a planet run by robots, where everyone is either a breeder or a sterile worker. As time passes, he becomes more attached to Ruby. He doesn't know if he can leave Ruby to her fate, or if she'd consider leaving her family and everything she knows to follow him.

Excerpt:

"Wait a minute," Carl said. "What's the matter? Why the sour face?"

For a minute, he thought that she wouldn't answer. Then she looked at him squarely and said, "I saw you. I smiled at you, and you flinched. I know what you were thinking. You were thinking how awful it is I can't have children, and you were feeling sorry for me."

Carl took her by the arms. "Is that what you think?" he asked.

"Of course. You don't have to apologize, or feel sorry for me." She drew herself up. "I don't whine or moan about it now, and I never will," she added fiercely. "Even when I have to go away."

"Go away?" That didn't sound right. "Go where?"

Her face fell. "I forgot … you don't know anything. If you're sterile, you don't count here. I'm just an extra person on Earth. Sterile people are expected to become helpers. We work in schools, hospitals, or as nannies to help. We stay in special housing. I'm almost twenty, so I'll have to go soon." She shrugged. "That way, we don't get in the way of people who can marry and have children. I can't fall in love with anyone. It's forbidden."

Carl just gaped at her. She lifted her chin and looked at him, her expression infinitely sad. "The first time I set eyes on you, Carl Cadet, I thought my heart had stopped beating. You're the handsomest man I've ever seen, and there's something else about you. You're kind. I can tell. There's compassion in you. I kept thinking to myself that if only I wasn't sterile, I could easily fall in love with you." Her mouth twisted awry and she blinked back tears. "But I can't. So if I sound snappish or angry sometimes, it's because I still haven't quite come to terms with having to give up so much."

"I'm sorry." He could hardly breathe.

"Don't be. I'm alive, and I met you. And we're friends. That counts for a lot, doesn't it?" Somehow she managed to smile brightly.

He wanted to say something else, but he was struck by her nearness, by the scent of her skin, and by the way the sun lit up her short, ash-blond hair and made it glow. Instead, he found himself pulling her toward him, cupping her chin in his hands, and kissing her softly on the lips. His hands, he noted with surprise, were trembling.

There was a moment of silence while Ruby stood still, her face tilted up, her eyes closed. She shook herself loose and stepped back. "You didn't have to do that," she said.

 Excerpt from Downfall

At Gaunt House ruins, the night started much the same as usual: some quiet chit-chat, a game of Monopoly, a beer and some snacks. But then it happened again. Not long after I arrived, Cain had a private consultation with Liz. They disappeared into the cooler room while I was moving my little dog around the game board. When they reappeared Cain said he was going out for pizza and more beer. I mustered my courage and asked to tag along but he said he’d be quick and I should stay in the game. He was gone for forty minutes … an hour … an hour and twenty … an hour and forty… Over and over I asked the other three where he could be but they just shrugged, elaborately nonchalant. “Could he have got in an accident?” I asked. “He’s fine, Frankie,” Jude assured me. “It doesn’t take two hours to get pizza!” “He’ll be back,” Owen said. “I’ll have Trafalgar Square, Liz.” I doubted myself. They were all so casual. Maybe there really was no secret. The Monopoly game was long finished when Cain finally returned around eleven … with no pizza or drinks. He feigned forgetfulness when I demanded to know why, and I thought I saw the others hiding their smiles. What the heck? Was this some kind of initiation? Cain headed for the cooler room so I pursued. He fished in the cooler and cracked open a sugary drink, slamming it down in what must have been record time. “Where did you go?” I asked. He reached for a second soda. “Nowhere.” “Tell me.” He took a big gulp from the new can and went for the plastic crate where spare packets of chips and snacks were kept. There was just one small bag of nuts left, which he tore into and finished in one go. I stared. Cain made as if to head back to the main chamber. “Hey,” I snapped. Cain stopped and looked at me, a strange darkness coming into his eyes. “Where …?” I didn’t finish because at that moment he stepped in close to me, just inches away, looking intently down into my face. My first instinct was to back away but I fought it and held my ground, knees beginning to shake. “Francesca,” he said in a voice so soft I didn’t know whether it was tender or menacing. “Stop asking questions.” Then he was gone. I let out a breath and was obliged to spend a couple of minutes regaining my presence of mind before I went back out to join the group.

Riley walked away and took a few steps toward the river. With his back facing me, he stood while looking at the waterfall. It was a beautiful scenehis tall, shirtless body with his blonde hair tousled and gently blowing in the wind. He took another step and surprised me by kicking off his boots. Then, he leaned down and rolled up his pant legs. He jogged over to a cluster of large rocks, his footing quick and poised, and sat with his bare feet dangling in the water.
I yelled out, "Is it safe to do that?"
He looked at me and laughed lightly. "Yeah, it’s safe. Do you think there are piranhas or crocodiles in the river?" He continued to chuckle, and a toothy smile broke free on my face. "Don't worry. There isn't anything deadly in these watersjust harmless fish, frogs, and Northern Water snakes. They won't hurt you." He beckoned to me. "Come over here and join me. The water is nice and cool." He kicked his feet, making splashes in the water.
I was hesitant to join him, but the water intrigued me. I decided to trust him, so I walked over to the rocks. They were flat, smooth, and slick. My steps were wobbly as I tried to avoid getting a foot stuck in the cracks or slipping on the moss. Once I stood next to him, he looked up at me with a wide smile. I removed my sneakers, peeled off my socks, and rolled up my sweatpants. Riley was right. The water was pleasantly cool and refreshing.
He kicked his feet again, this time making a bigger splash. I tried to outdo him, but my smaller feet were no match for his large ones. We laughed together, but the rushing water overpowered the harmonious sound.
I stole a glance at him while he looked at the river. He leaned back casually on his elbows, and I couldn't help but admire his six-pack abs and toned chest. Little, brown moles spotted his torso, and I imagined playing connect-the-dots with my tongue. His skin enticed me, and I wanted to run my hands all over it. A lustful feeling washed over me, and I swallowed thickly, averting my gaze.
Riley chuckled low in his throat, and I knew he caught me staring. His hand touched my lower back, and I looked at him over my shoulder. A grin spread across his lips as he tugged the shirt hem.
"This is my shirt, isn't it?" My eyes widened, and I whipped my head around. In less than two seconds, my face flushed with heat.
"Um, yes," I mumbled. "Sorry. I borrowed it, because Quinn's clothes were too small for me, and I didn't feel comfortable browsing through Celia's wardrobe." The latter reason was a lie. I was just determined to cover myself with his clothes.
"No worries. I don't mind," he soothed. "You can borrow whatever you want. What's mine is yours, love."
I turned my head slightly to peek at him, grateful his focus was still on the shirt. I recalled the words he spoke earlier. "Let's say hypothetically I did stay here with you. How would we be together when I'm human and you're a wolf?"
"If you're referring to us being biologically compatible, Máni and Freya blessed us, so we can breed with humans."
His foot brushed against mine under the water. It came back a second time and then a third. He sat up and scooted closer to me, until our thighs were touching. I looked over at him and almost fell into his seafoam pools. I had to regain control before I did something I would regret...like lean over and kiss those bee-stung lips.
